acrylic skimmer wall thickness

I found some acrylic tubeing in various sizes on ebay
tubing comes in 6 foot long.

wall thickness is 1/8"

is that to thin?

Not unless you're building a ginormous skimmer, even then it would depend on the size of the pipe. Cylinders are very strong.

I used 1/8" wall thickness, and it worked ok. I would recommend cutting 2" off the tube and cut that into small sections to add extra thickness to where your uniseals will go. I cracked my skimmer pushing the pipe through.

neo how did make the walls thicker

did you cut off a square big than the uniseal and attach it to where the uniseal would be drilled

That also works pretty well with threaded installs also. 1/8 wall doesn't give enough material to thread & seal - the extra material does the trick.

Uni-seals - put them in hot/boiling water before you use them. They get soft & don't crack the pipe (also a case for cast material). Have your materials ready to go - push the feeding pipe though while it's soft = less chance for cracking.
