Sounds like you found the stuff Amy. I think that Muttling maybe on to something for Aiptasia removal, like the Daisy Cutter or the Massive Ordnance Air Burst (MOAB).

Ethylene oxides are number two. Just look up fuel air explosives or FAE on Google to find things like the Daisy Cutter and Massive Ordnance Air Burst (MOAB) to find these little puppies
Some corrections to make 1. Ethylene oxide, yup, FAE's #1 choice filler 2. MOAB, Massive Ordnance Air Burst also called = Mother Of All Bombs is the GBU-43/B. A Smart Bomb, meaning it knows when to go off. I dropped one of these on Jer's aka, Bomber's renta house, in the Keys It weights 21,000 pounds. The shock wave will clear out trees to a diameter of 500 ft. It uses a Tritonal based explosive, we won't say exactly what One is on its way now to Randy's summer house He wanted his yard cleaned quickly. 3. Daisy Cutter is not an FAE. it is the BLU-82, a Dumb Bomb. It Contains a 12,600 lb GSX slurry (AN, aluminum powder, and polystyrene) It is initiated just above ground level by a 38-inch long fuze . It produces an overpressure of 1000 psi near ground zero. There is no such thing as 15,000 FAE (actual weight of the bomb), most are under 2000 lbs. The ground an weather play a vital roll during the dipersal of FAE's. Detonation of an FAE is critical to a time sequence, so it reaches MECD ( Maximum Efficient Cloud Density) Last edited by Boomer; 05/17/2005 at 09:43 AM. |

Why does it seem that any piece of ordnance that is named BLU-___ is something you REALLY don't want to find in the woods?

They are not very user freindly
BLU =Bomb Live Unit..............# 1 reason and many have antitampering devices, that like to bite, just like some animals in the woods

It is amazing that they sell it when one of the warnings says "May be fatal". Eek!
Yes, but this is a critical experiment, right?

The FBI aint worried about MOAB mentions. They're still trying to figure out how to keep you from seeing pictures of the smallest nuclear weapon we ever deployed.....
Say hi to the Davy Crocket tactical nuclear weapon. (Yep, it's the little bomb shaped thingy that's being held by the guy on the left.) P.S. - One minor detail for the weapon system operator. The maximum fire distance for that recoiless rifle is about 2 miles while the yield radius is slightly less then 3 miles. In short, shoot and DUCK!!!!!! P.S.S. - The Davy Crocket has been taken out of the arsenal.

In those days, the use of a tactical nuke generally meant your position was getting ready to be over-run or brown stuff was otherwise hitting the fan in mamouth proportions. In short, it was just a question of how many can you take down with you. Then there's systems like the BOMARC missile. A surface to air nuke. (You read that right. It was a nuke designed to kill aircraft.) We were so desperate to have a system for wiping out large bomber formations that we put it on the front lines with the knowledge that 25% of them would blow up on the launch pad as a result of a design flaw. As one Air Force Major put it during a public meeting in the 1980's, "Ma'am, if we were launching these things.....a detonation on the launch pad was the least of our worries." Here's a photo of America's first ground to air nuclear missile, the BOMARC. P.S. - One actually DID blow up with a nuclear war head installed. It wasn't a nuclear detonation, but it did spread plutonium over parts of McGuire Air Force Base. (Can you say " screw up handling the inhibited, red fuming nitric acid I mentioned previously?"......Suddenly, HCN doesn't sound so painful does it?) P.S.S. - I've actually done environmental clean up on a BOMARC launch facility. Specifically the one on Cape Cod at the Massachussettes Military Reservation (MMR.) I've been in some awe inspiring places, but the MMR BOMARC launch buildings were a stand out. Only one other ranks with that site and that's the Clarksville Depot where they stored about half the nuclear arsenal in the early days of the nuke program (late 1940's and early 1950's.) Speaking of which, I'm making a visit to that site week after next. It's currently known as the Fort Campbell Ammo Supply Point (e.g. where the 101st airborne stores butt loads of conventional ammo)....no nukes these days, but a LOT of conventional stuff.

Ok, guys, this was an orange spot thread
I don't understand, this is about orange spots Orange spots in your eys if you are staring at it. It makes a really big orange spot in the sky. If you are to close you glow orange form the thermal heat. If much further away you get orange spots on your body, called burns I think Randy wants this thread on this subject stopped so any more questions please PM me It is not the place to be discussing the fundamentals of nuclear weapons. So, just some remarks; while the yield radius is slightly less then 3 miles Not even, according to my nuclear weapons calculator Radation dosage is about 100,000 rem @ .1 miles and the dose is about 5,000 rem @ .25 miles quarter mile (400 meters). Thermal Radation is around 75 cal/cm^2 @ .1 miles and 10 cal /cm ^2 @ .25 Miles. By the time you get out to 1 mile, being that radation follows the inverse sqaure law, it is 1 rem and 1 cal/cm^2, not much to worry about. All with no wind. BOMARC missile We had these in Duluth, where I live, in the 50's-60 's, A BOMARCH, SAGE (Semi-Automatic Ground Environment) AF base. Mutt this makes me very nervous Class H blaster's license, UXO Tech with a Jersey license. (All 3 of mine are in Iraq.) Why, you did not bring home any funny souvenirs now did you This thread won't get picked up by that FBI internet monitoring computer No, they know me.............are you still there.......??? that is was not needed. I dunno
I just meant that I'm not sure I'd risk using HF for a experiment that I'm not sure what I'd do with the answer.
