Does the rock also need to be taken out of water and dried?
Yes, apply enough to the end (out of water) then mount it where you want it and hold until it will stay on it's own.
No, If you use enough on the end of the frag, you don't need any on the rock.

Has anyone used this product? Would it be suitable for mounting frags?

Never used it, but it would work just fine. I usaully by the cheapest brand of Super Gel I can find. If you use a lot it can get a little expensive after a while. I usaully find mine at "Big Lots", you can find 2-3gr. tubes for $0.99.

Depends on how many frags you are gluing. One or two, I would say loctite because the bottle is easy to keep clean. If I were doing enough to use an entire tube, then yes, I would use the 99cent tubes. But, thus far loctite has been my favorite.

Is it possible with any of these glues to glue under water? In other words get the Frag or rock where you want it and apply a few dabs under water??

It is possible, but you have to use a lot more glue to acheive the same result. As soon as it comes out of the tube, it will form a skin on the surface. If you have a big enough "bubble" of glue on the mounting surface, when you push your frag into it, it will pop the skin and fresh glue will attach to the frag.

If you are doing just a couple frags, then this is an ok method. But if you are doing large quantities of frags, then removing them from the water is a must.

I read this somewhere and it works good for me when gluing underwater.
Put a blob of super glue gel on your finger and then apply it to the location you want glue underwater. Then apply a good amount to the item you want to glue. Them immediately attach your item to the location you prep'd underwater pressing together firmly and wiggling it slightly to help to break the skin that forms quickly underwater. Hold for about 30 secs to a minute. It then should be attahed firmly.

Good Luck.

Has anyone glueing frags underwater had any ill affects to fish? Heard that Manderin gobies and tangs are sensitive to the glue.

The only way I have seen them sensitive to the glue is when they try to eat it before it sets up. They get a mouthfull but I have only seen it last a couple of days before they get rid of it.

Thanks,

Scott
