Diy Fuge on top of tank 5 gallon
So i built a fuge to go on top of the tank canopy out of a 5 gallon tank, Now it works great besides alot of noise from the returns and tons of bubbles in line due to it shipone/brake/shipone/brake/surge of overflow ect so on
Basic setup power head in main tank 90 gallon feeds water to 5 gallon sitting on top of tank, then the water return by 2 drains, Overflow is inpossible if you ask me and if it does it will just go into the tank after running off the canopy! I have 3 holes all 1/2 I think to make this work i need to do a outside derso standpipe idea where it goes out to a tee one for air and the other down for water with holes drilled to be a aint shipone? I can deal with the noise i just cant deal with all the bubbles it throw into the main tank, I have tried putting the lines into a hob filter with rocks, filters and ect it helped but still tons of bubbles from it shipone and braking gruggling! I think somone knows what i need to do so i am open to ideas, I got a link on page 4 it has 2 pics of the setup, Thanks Link for pics of setup below http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2571255/4 |

It will be hard to eliminate all bubbles, but one thing you can do is angle the lines going down into the main tank, so that the water is running down the side of the tubing, rather than falling down the tubing and that will reduce the bubbles alot.

Wow so that sucks if that is true
Side note i had a mj600 so that was like what 30x hr on that little 5 gallon, i wounder if i get a smaller pump would that also help with the bubbles and ect as the water was really flowing, as that was just a test! |

Yes slower flow will help with the bubbles also.

in my tank i have a down turned elbow with a hole (1/8") in the top of the elbow..eliminated all my noise and bubbles...plus i have oversized pipe and slow flow...on an angle as mentioned above..
