New fish & tank shots

Ok well I have a nasty out-break of some Fern algae. I was given some of this to place in my sump from D.French earlyer this year. Well just like the cheato that IM LON 2 gave me, I have it all over in the display tank. I've been riping this stuff out buy the hand fulls once every week!! It grows maddness !!! Now it has rooted into my LR and everywhere it can!! I've pulled my hair out until I'm bald!! D.french told that his yellow Zebrasoma eat it like crazy. So today I broke down and snuck out of the (with my 5 y/o son) and went to Nemo's with Rich1972 to get a Zebrasoma. I took a small amount of the Fern algae with me to make sure I found a fish that would eat it. Nemo's was rather short on fish, as far as Tangs go they only had 1 unicorn I think a blue about 9 inches, 1 Yellow, 1 Purple, 1 Convict & 1 Blonde Naso. The onwer let me feed them all some of the fern which he said that was what he fed them himself. Every one of them tore this stuff up like crazy. I ran out of it they eat so much. So beings the 2 smallest ones were the Convict & Blonde I chose the Blonde Naso. I think I got a deal on him Nemo's was asking $36.98 and the lil' feller is 3 inches maybe 3 1/2 at best. I'm not sure he was the best buy though, I checked him out before purchasing him and knew that he could get to about 18 inch when fully grown. That's going to scale me back on other fish. The wife is not so happy but once I showed her the new lil fishy she eased up some with excitement, but still once my (ya knows) place in a jar for spending money that I wasn't suppose to he he he Oh yea once in the tank he went nut's on the Fern. Here's the pics:

In this pics you can see him hitting some of the smaller Ferns just starting to grow.

Hey Jack, on the overflow that's the little piece of GSP that I scraped off your tank the week before you moved.

actually mike you can thank nanook cause i got the live rock from him that was covered in fern, in my 125 gallon my yellow tang and sailfin tang plus lawnmower blenny cleared it out in a week. But my new 75 gallon is going slower i have a blue eyed bristle tooth tang and scopas tang going at it so hopefully it works. Also have some in my sump with chaeto and it doesn't make it to display tank.

Sweet! Nice stuff D. How many Tangs do you have now?? In the first pic is that 3 Tangs I couldn't tell the one was turned??

How are the Bio-balls working, Or is that why you've been looking into another skimmer??

Nice tang Stupid, I love Nasos especially the Blondes, they develop streamers much earlier. Plus its another excuse for a tank upgrade in the future Although, I'm sure she'll have room for quite a few years in your current tank.

i never went with bio balls, i had about two hundred that came in sump that i bought and i used them during first day or two of setup cause they worked great catching all loose debris from tank switch. i had three tangs in my 125 but now just 2 my yellow and sailfin, have no luck with blue hippo's. my new tank has 2 scopas and bristle tooth tang.

I will shoot you a PM on the aptasia. I would be interested in any that you have. we can chisel them off or if the rock is small I could replace the rock.

got the blue eyed bristletooth tang from nemo's and they called it a striped tang, reefers from another forum said its a bristle tooth tang, either way its different from other tang i usually see at lfs color and goes nuts on sand bed and live rock cleaning

What do you have that eats them? I had a copper banded that took care of them, and now that he is gone they are starting to come back

Well Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I'm not sure if it's a "Blonde" or just a plain Naso. I've been researching the Naso's but can't really find what it is that points out the differences between the two. I'm not really all that concern due to they'll both get the same size which was the only thing I was concerned about. I know the sex is easily distinguishable by the streamer that the males will have and females will not have them.

Nice! As long as the algae is controlled it does lend a more natural look.

Lookes good man! I do like the look of it. I think that is a normal naso not a blonde but still a fine fish. That is one tang I have had no luck keeping for some strange reason.

Thanks John and I must agree with you. I think it's a normal Naso as well. Which is why I was doing so much research on them, but I've concluded that it doesn't matter they both get the same darn size. If I may ask, What or why is it that you have had no luck with them?? Is it feeding or fighting or something of that nature??

Yes I've read alot of reefer's here on RC stating issue's like that John. When I did a search on these fish it seemed about 1 out of 5 people had issue's keeping them. IM LON 2 had one and lost it, although I don't remember what the cause was now. So far so good I'll post back in a week and let you know how he doing.
