ok time I need some help with the calcium reactor. what would cause the bubble counter not to keep a constant bubble flow? I set it up to produce 1 BPS but an hour later it isn't even doing 1 bubble. so I turn the knob again and the same thing happends. I am lost on this.

If the tank is full, it comes down to the second gauge. Is that pressure staying constant? I keep mine at 12 PSI.

Then you have the needle valve under the bubble counter. Some have experienced what you've described either because: #1) the regulator is failing, #2) the bubble counter was filled with saltwater causing corrosion, or #3) the needle valve isn't staying in place.

well the bubble counter was filled with rodi water so I guess that just leaves the regulator is shot. as it stays at a constant 11 psi also.

thanks for the help. I will try to fiddle with it a few more times and if not I will pick a new one up.

I would get the same one Chuck recently purchased from aquariumplants.com because it is a good unit with a three year warranty. That is the one I'll be getting myself when I have to replace the current one.

That rock is exactly like the Gap Island rock...all poccillipora skeletons...only from a different reef. All the same but Sam saved lots because it is from Fiji=less shipping=less end $$

well I guess today is the day time for my tank makeover.

I'm really looking forward to the new rock in the tank and the new look. just not looking forward to all the work involved  but I guess it has to be done sometime.

the main thing that still gives me nightmares is that I will get this all done and 1 lone shroom or kenya tree found it's way to stay in the tank and next thing you know all ____ breaks loose again

well I am off and hope to take some good pics during the process.

wish me luck.

ok well after 13 hours the tank is finally done. hopefully I won't have to do this again till I upgrade to a bigger tank, which as you will notice I may have to soon. I have more corals than I have spots for. but thats a good thing

now for some pics.
first the before

here is the holding tank for some corals and the fish

here is another holding tank for more corals

finally the tank empied and ready to clean the glass and search the sand for little shrooms and kenya tree's that don't want to be evicted

and the tank where all the old rock went.

continued:

and you can't forget a pic. of the mess while doing this

1st 22lbs of new rock put into the clean tank

after reararanging and adding another 20lbs

and the final aquascape with lots of new caves for the fish and another 18lbs of rock

and finally a few pics with all the corals in their new place. (shroom and kenya tree free at last)

it must have went well as most of the corals except the devil's hand leather opened up and all seemed happy

right side

left side

FTS

I did only use 60lbd of LR as it is so light weight it takes up alot of room. now I have extra rock to setup a new tank lol. still have to weigh how much I have left of this new rock but should be enough for a nice looking 30 gal. tank

sorry not wrote alot as I am tired but ask questions and I will get back asap.

hope you like the new look, I know the wife and I do. just looks bare due to alot of the corals are still frags but I am sure it will turn out very nice when they start to fill in.

Sam, it looks great!

I don't believe that is a Devils Hand Leather. It really looks like a toadstool to me.

thanks Mark, and Chuck.

Mark the devil's hand I was talking about is on the front right corner of the tank. Not the huge toadstool on the top left lol.

also I forgot. I understand the rule of thumb is 1-2lbs of LR per gal. but does that goes for all types of rock? as you can see when I had the fiji rock I had about 100lbs and with this new rock it is only 60lbs and takes up the same amount of realestate due to it being so much lighter. and this new rock has alot more surface area for the bacteria to grow on which should make the diff. correct?

Yes and no. I've noticed a trend in recent months were people are using less liverock and their systems are still doing well. So it is workable.

With your new layout, better flow will move through the tank which should result in better circulation and less trapped detritus.
