F/S Mag Drive 24
I have a Mag Drive 24 (1" by 1" input output) almost brand new. I was going to use it for a closed loop system but ended up using a Mag 12. It was used once to mix salt. Powerful Pump.
$80 cash I'm in Trinity. Thanks

if i were to use it as a return pump in sump would it produce alot of heat? i just don't have the room in stand to plumb external but could really use a larger pump...

That mag 24 puts out 265 watts, that is a good amount of heat, especially if you are using it in your 65 gallon you have listed in your current tanks. According to the specs of that pump it will cost around 15.00 a month to run it. Im no expert though, maybe one of our local experts will chime in for you. Is it going to be in the sump with the refugium? If so isnt that alot of flow for a refugium?

i think a mag24 is way too much for a 65g tank. i have a mag 18 in my 135.

I agree hell that would be to much on my 125. better for a closed loop.

well the thing is it will be on my new 90. The reason I was looking at getting so much flow is because the return into the tank is pvc the going around whole top of tank with a nozzel in each corner of tank, so you are looking at an additional 10 ft for water to travel and 2 90 degree turns which will dramatically cut back amount of flow. the tank is going to be barebottom sps so need lots of flow. the flow gets split in the sump between refugium and filter sock so i can control how much flow is going through the refugium.

It will probably raise the water temp of a 90 system at least 4 degrees or so

Sorry Jade, you wouldnt want to place it in a sump unless it was a huge tank or you were willing to have a chiller run 24/7. It will put too much heat in the water. Better to run external.
It is a POWEFUL pump.
