Coraline Algae and Ozone

Is using ozone going to prevent coraline algae growth? During a visit to my LFS, the owner showed me two of the three ozone systems he uses on his display tanks and stock tanks. He said that they shouldnt prevent Coraline growth.

However, I read on the back of a Kent Marine Calcium supplement bottle, it should not be used with Ozone. It did not say why...

Im just a bit confused...

Paradidle using ozone is usually restricted to use with a skimmer. If thier are any algal spores going through it they will be killed. Corraline tends not to spore unless attacked (you scraping it) so it shouldnt have an effect. Boy I wish it did though, it would save me alot of scraping lol.

As per kents calcium I would look to the chemical make up of the additive. its probibly something to do with the carrier they use, probibly sugar

Well your need a few things in place. One is that thier needs to be corraline thier to start with. Then you need to make sure your calcium and alkalinity are at proper balanced levels. Ie at a salinity of 1.026 your looking for around 420 calium and 8 to 9 dkh.
You can enhance its growth by scrapping some exisisting corraline or by using an urchin, which eats it and then poops out the spores. Normally if all is well it should start growing after the cycle.
