Update!!! Thursday August 19th 2004

I recieved an Official Bank Check in the amount of $180.00 delivered via USPS Express Mail Overnight Service today.

While the check is dated August 17th, and it was mailed via overnight delivery on the 18th, contrary to his previuos communications stating that he had sent it on or about the 11th, we finally have a positive outcome to this situation.

I would like to thank all of those that have posted to this thread offering support and suggestions.

To Mr. Mummra, I say thank you for making this right.

I truly believe that this thread and the comments and suggestions made in it had a significant impact on this matter being resolved in this manner.

Once again, thank you. Now I can celebrate by adding some more corals to my tank!!!!!

Yes, I wouldn't get all excited until that check clears. bank/Cashiers checks can be forged. It worries me that he didn't just return your money via PayPal.

I think you only have 30 days to refund via PayPal.

Yes, but I meant he could have just sent him a payment via the PayPal system, just as he recieved it. It wouldn't need to be considered a refund.

I would be very surprised if the check was not authentic. Had Mr. Mummra not wanted to make the situation right, I don't think he would have done anything at all.

As it is, he has now spent more than he recieved, for the cost of overnighting the check was $13.65, not including the fees that PayPay took from my original payment to him, or the cost from the bank to draw up the check.

In addition, why would he add insult to injury by sending a fraudulent payment. That would be a crime, and it's not like it would be difficult for the authorities to find him, knowing where he works and what not. Besides, would you be willing to totally screw up your life by committing a felony for $180.00?

I believe his original intentions were honorable when he listed the lighting system for sale. He recieved the original payment from me and used it for whatever he needed at the time. Something happened with the lighting system he was suppose to sell me, it was damaged, sold to someone else, or he changed his mind about selling it, only Mr. Mummra knows. He couldn't fulfill the obligation to me, and he was unable to return the payment because he had already used the funds.

It doesn't really matter. What matters is that he finally stepped up to the plate and did the right thing.

I will wait for the check to clear the bank, and then I will cancel the dispute with my credit card company and notify PayPal that the matter has been resolved.
