What is a fuge?

I have codepods in my tank already and someone told me to build a fuge so i can have a ton of them but unfortionatly i dont know what one is or how to build one so if someone could explain it to me then that would be great thanks

Its just a little area in your sump (or somewhere) that water runs through for filtration and homes for all kinds of little guys.

Do i need a seperate tank or could i make a place inside my main tank(like small rocks piled on each other) that fish cant get to and if i do that will my codepods survive and breed?

you will have pod in your main tank anyway, but they will harbor down in the fuge too. You can use an in tank fuge, but I'd just do it in the sump if you can.

i have a 46gal. tank and i want to start off slow with just fish but in a few months add some coral.

I have a 46 gal also. I don't have a fuge but I am going to use my hob aquaclear 110 filter and make one. If you want to learn how to make a fuge you can look on the dyi forum or ask on that forum and they will give you a hand by linking you to a thread that will walk you threw how to make one . The dyi thread was so easy to follow,all pictures(my speed) for the hang on back (hob) fuge I am going to make. The only reason I'm going that route is because on the room situation.
