Mystery Wrasse not eating
Instead, it keeps attacking its own reflection against the tank.
It seems healthy, swims well, fins all extended, and isn't being harassed by other wrasses. I usually use piscine energetics mysis for all first time fish to get to eat, but he ignores it completely. I also never had a mystery not eat before, so this is a first time stumper for me. Any suggestions?

I started mine on Mysid and Bloodworms, but he really liked simple flake food... Went crazy over that... Give it a shot....

All depends on the individual wrasse family - I have found most Halichoeres,Thalassoma,Novaculichthys,Coris,Bodianus,Gomphosus,Pseudocheilinus tend to respond well to small crustaceans - sand crabs, glass shrimps etc.
Planktonic feeders like Pseudojuloides and Cirrhilabrus I start on finely minced mussels or clams. If you have a Macropharyngodon,Anampses or similar specialized feeder, Good Luck, I have never had good luck with them, except in a WELL ESTABLISHED reef tank filled with numerous amphipods, copepods and other microfauna. |

Interested in knowing how this works out for you as I plan to add a mystery wrasse to my tank in the future.

well after one week, the fish started to eat flake. i never did try the live brine as i was too busy. i was feeding the other wrasses normally then he started eating. the flake food is Prime Reef flakes and Formula 1.

Glad to hear that he is finally eating. I always hate waiting for them, and then it's a relief once they start.
