New Mushrooms

Hi guys,

This is my first post here as I am starting, well have started, a FOWLR tank which does have some shrooms in it. My tank is a 20 gallon tall with right now only a 15 watt fluorescent strip, but I'm keeping the shrooms high up in my tank close to my light so they get the most light possible. Do you think that the shrooms will survive in this light until this weekend when me and my dad are building me a light? I will be building light with one 15 watt 10,000K fluorescent strip and 2 coralife mini compact fluorescent 50/50 20 watt bulbs. This will put me at approximately 3 wpg. In this tank, all I will be keeping is a few fish, the shrooms I have, and also live rock. My sg is about 1.021 right now, should that be fine for the shrooms?

Thanks!

Yes they should live untill this weekend. WPG is a bad measure of light in a marine system, i can put a 250 watt metal halide light above 5 gallons of water and depending on how high it was raised up it could be too much or not enough. You should watch your shrooms over a period of time, they will tell you if its enough light or not.
0.21 is ok for fish but not for corals IMO, not long term. I would shoot for at least 0.24
