mixing clown fish

I have a small true perc in my tank. I have been thinking of adding another clown fish for him to hang out with. Would I be OK adding a black and white ocellaris with my true perc?

or how about putting a false perc with a true perc? I know they are really close to being the same species.

I've had a pair of perc/ false perc before with no problems.

In fact I plan to do the exact same thing; Add a black occ clown to my perc.

I always had a success adding new clowns to my tank. I have 3 pairs which I introduced them at different time.

Anyone else had experience with this?

I am considering the same thing. Or I might try 2 mated pairs in my 180 - 1 pair of false and 1 pair of blck/wht...

Thanks.

Did a little digging and found this extremely informative thread...
thought it might help with some of the questions.

As for my question, the answer I found is: since they are the same species of clown fish it should not be a problem....

I mixed true percs and a maroon. True percs disappeared and haven't been seen again. Presumed dead.

I don't think it's advisable to mix clown species unless you have a very large tank (300+ gallons) and they are out of sight of each other.

I have a false perc, and a black and white. they get along great. they've been together for almost a year. I tried adding a true perc recently, and they both ganged up on it, I had to take it back

Well, I just purchased a blk/wht occ today. My regular occ is letting him know who is boss, but the blk/wht is not reacting (ie. he is not doing the shimmy). He will fight back once every 15mins or so, but is not really doing anything other than getting out of the way. I hope they pair, but we will see.

At the store, the sales person mentioned that when they place the blk/wht in the tank with the org/wht false percs they tend to segregate themselves.

Never experienced this before. Hope they pair up...
(fingers crossed )

Are they just buds, or are they a mated pair?

What about the rest of you? Were the mismatched pairs a "mated pair" (i.e. did they breed) or just hang out together?

I have been getting eggs from what I think is a true perc (not much black but clear outer eye ring) and my B/W occ for the last couple of months.
