AquaC CLUB!
With as fine a product as Jason puts out, he needs some loving too! I love my remora. I know it's been getting bashed on these boards of late, but that little thing rocks. (Plus, I feel left out and I wanna be part of a club! ) There's gotta be other aquaC lovers out there too!

I'm running an original Remora, 2 Remora Pros, an Urchin and an EV-180. Awesome skimmers!

EV180 and an EV240 here. They worked great for me! Highly recommended.

I use a EV120 and love it. I have removed the air intake ball valve so that the skimmer can pull as much air as possible. I also changed the pump to using an Eheim 1260 pump. I get really nasty coffee color skimmage from this setup. I also have it mounted outside my sump as of right now. I am getting about 8oz of skimmage every two to three days. Though I am about to rework my plumbing and hope to give the skimmer pump more raw overflow water, so hopefully that will increase the amount of skimmage I am producing.

I have the older EV150 model. Love it. It is a bit underpowered for my total setup (240g), but working in partnership with my macro algae does a great job IMO.

I've actually been considering upgrading my standard remora to a 120 or 180. I had one for a different set-up that i was going to sell, so I sold the 180, but now I'm regretting it since I'd tune it in for my 46. I used to get think coffee colored skimmage from my remora. Since i switched it over, the skimmage is lighter. I might be running a light bioload though. hmmm.

I have an EV-180 plumbed externally on a 125 mixed reef.
I did change the pump from the recommended Mag 7 to a Mag 9.5 and it performs well. Fills the collection cup up to the drain fitting on the first day after cleaning. |

I have a EV-400 on a 250g system, I like it. dont love it. It does its job. hard to keep the foam consistant. I might want to try a ER same size... but at 600- 700 a clip maybe I'll keep it..
like I said it does a good job on the 250g but very inconsistant.

I have an AquaC EV-120 and I love it.
However, I didn't always love it. My injector was calcified for a long time and I never figured out why the skimming performance was so bad. Also, I used to have it mounted in my sump and the water level would rise too high. Now that I have it plumbed externally with a PVC pipe returning the flow to the sump, it is very quiet and pulls lots of great skimmate without any fuss. I have pics of my setup in my gallery if anyone wants to see how I plumbed the return.

wow. so I finally hooked up the new remora on wednesday night. it was spilling lots of bubbles back into the display that night and the following day/night. got up this morning (36 hours later) to find foam coming out the hole on the top lid. I pulled the collection cup out, and it was full!. skimate was watery brown tea like, and had some stench to it. this was on the lowest setting of the cup. after I emptied the cup, I raised it like 3/4-1" and left for work.

I'm running an in-sump EV-120 on a 120g bare bottom SPS tank and so far it has not disappointed me.
I do however have it tee'd off of my sump return pump with a gate valve to control the flow. If I had to guess, the flow is probably in the 700-800 gph range. That being said, I would think the recommended Mag 5 would be underpowered for this skimmer. I do use a 100 micron filter sock on the gate valve output cause with the increased flow, you end up with microbubbles. |

Remember the Remora Pro is considered by many to be the best HOB skimmer you can buy. I just personally thought it was WAYYYYYYYYYY overrated. |
