What would you like to see pictures of?

Everything is pretty much on pause right now. All fish have been moved to QT and are bieng treated with hypo salinity.

I may pick up a mandarin goby on Tuesday. My pod population is almost out of control. There is not a single piece of LR that is not covered. I almost "need" a mandarin just to keep the population in check.

Well my skimmer fills instantly with it open all the way so it takes in the least water and it was sitting a week before I turned the skimmer on. The epoxy, I almost used a whole tube of it though so maybe it needs to settle or something. Well, xenon's thread

Tank looks great xenon! How's that powder blue doing?

Perfect now that he is in QT.

All visible signs of ich are now gone. He is also best friends with a naso tang I got last week.

Yep, these two tangs should not be in a 90g I know. They are both currently 4" and I am already planning a 200-300g tank to move them

Looks good! Love your plumbing. Where did you get the grey pvc from? Also I like your unions, same question. Is your tang sleeping well in his eggcrate basket?

I guess there probably hasn't been much change in a week or two since the last pics but I was curious to see Mr Powder Blue in his little cubby and the progress of the coralline algae growth

Very helpful thread

I can't believe you have already decided to go bigger!!!!

Coraline has started but its not exacly purple. More of a pink color.

The fish are sleeping good in the QT tank. Its in the bedroom so there is zero traffic going thru there.

It's a real pain in the a$$ to do 50% water changes daily thou. God damn ammonia is always going up. I have some chunks of LR and a 1week old sponge. Whatever, I can't wait till QT is over.

Hey scuba_steve, I don´t want to speak for xenon but it seems to me like the grey pvc is the grey conduit pipe they sell at Lowes or HD. It is located in the electrical section. It is used to run electrical wires underground and can be glued just like regular white pvc. Make sure you ask for liquid tight or conduit pipe.

Hey xenon, did your megaflows make a lot of noise? I thought it was my mag return pump, but I think it is from the megaflows. Do you have to adjust the drain pipe to make the overflows fill more water?

The electrical pipes are a much lighter grey color. A buddy of mine uses it with no problem.

What noise are you getting?

If your overflows are maxing out, they will start to surge. Throttle back your return pump and they will quiet down.

The only noise I get is from the water dumping into my sump.

Xenon, so what type of pipe is that? Do they have it at HD or LOWES? Cause it looks real nice.

xenon, your tank looks awesome! My 90 aga is getting moved into the house tonight...

I was debating painting the back of mine but have decided against; rather letting the corraline take over the back. How did you paint it? (spray, roller, etc.) and how many coats did it take? Is it fragile if you bank into it?

No spraypaint was used

I used two layers of vinyl. The 1st layer was dark blue and the 2nd was black. The dark blue was not thick enough and the light would come thru so I added a layer of black and it was perfect.

You do things like I'd hope to someday. I've been on a tight budget.

I am assuming rolled on then?

Have you been keeping track of costs? I have been writing down every dime...and with all the pieces almost in place (ebay items are being shipped now) the grand total is coming in at about 1200 before any livestock purchases.

Yeah I kept a list with prices when I started but I have not kept it updated. I am definately over $8k CAD with livestock/corals etc.

Ouch! I don't want the wife to see that number..

She and I just got the tank upstairs in my office. A little heavier than she expected, but she's a trooper.

It feels good to sit here and look at it. Can't wait till it has water in it!

This is my 1st tank and I love it but I was oblivious to what I needed to run a sucessful reef and the costs involved.

Fun stuff thou
