Xenon, how about some updated pics on the corals? I would like to see a clam pic. Do you target feed or do anything specific for a clam? I've got B-ionic, is this good for corals/clams? I actually bought it a long time ago and never used it. I'm looking to add a clam soon. BTW how many chromis ya got now? how many did ya start with?

Is that clam in the second photo OK? It seems bleached a bit in spots and the bottom right of the mangle seems torn or showing signs of PM

Hi Xenon

Can you tell me what you have for a cleanup crew? It seems like you have plenty of astrea snails. Are you happy with your cleanup crew? How many snails of each type do you have?

I will be ordering soon. Thanks

Will

Beuatiful tank. Goes to show how much proper planning and thought can add to a tank.

BB and your not cropping the dogs ears? I like it.

It's perfectly fine.

This is what it looked like the day I bought it about 4months ago.

90 astrea snails and that's it!!!

They are pure work horses with no hermit crabs to worry about.

I only go against the grain when it makes perfect sense.

I do have some dead spots in my tank even thou I have over 4000gph. I dont think a 4way was the best choice because the flow is way too direct.

I will be buying a tunze wavebox soon that will hopefully solve my issues.

awesome tank!

I just bought a sun coral and read that it should be placed in a cave. So ofcourse i moved my rock and put it under the cave but now does not recieve much flow. What is better, light and flow or no light and not much flow?

also, how do you keep the back glass spotless? clean every day?

Not true.

They are non-photosinthetic.

You can have them right under the light and it wont make any difference.

So that let me get this right: flow is more important and light is not an issue whether the sun coral gets a significant amount or non at all?

Sun corals do not need light. The reason why some people say to put sun corals inside a cave is to get them to "come out" more in the day while your tank lights are on. Normally sun corals will stay closed until late evening and then start to open up.

Dedicated owners can get them to open up during the day to feed if they are "trained" to do so. Flow isn't a huge issue with them either, put them in moderate flow. Not too much, and enough that water flows through them as any coral.

Spot feed each mouth several times a week mysis and brine and you're fine. They are simple to keep.

Your videos don't work for me? I wanted to put a copperband in my tank, but I have a powder brown tang lol. I don't think he would be very happy either, although the tank is longer, but he has no problem pushing around the 6" magnificent foxface when he wants to.

Are you able to download it?

There is no special codec required to view it so I am not sure what the issue would be.

That video was taken right after I added the copperband. The powder blue calmed down after 5mins and now everything is ok.

Oh, so everything is good now? Maybe I will try one. I need one to get rid of some aiptasia. Joe's Juice, Kalk Paste, and Peppermint Shrimp didn't help it I don't think. What do you think about a yellow tang then, probably would be less aggresive than the powder brown, or more aggresive since the body shape would be more similar? What size copperband did you get? My yellow tang and powder brown tang are around the 4" size, and I don't think the foxface would bother a copperband. I do have a 40 gallon sump I could put it in if it had to go in there for a while until I could find a new home for it, although there isn't much swimming room there.

How many fish are in your 90 then. Still have the 2 tangs, trigger, chromis, and now copperband? Your tank is an SPS reef mostly right? I have 2 tangs, a foxface, 2 anthias, and 2 clowns in my SPS reef, I just don't want the nitrates to go above 0. Making sure the bioload will be OK first
