Leather coral parasite?

I was told by my LFS that this thing is a parasite. It lives inside my leather coral. The only visible part of the creature is some long "arms" or "tentacles" it extends in to the water column. It is too difficult to photograph, but here is a sketch:

Is this a parasite? Should I remove it? How?

It's a benthic ctenophore. They're fairly common on leathers and aren't anything to worry about. They use the sticky tentacles to filter food out of the water. The leather is just a place for it to sit.

I agree with greenbean. I use to have some of these on my leathers. I am not sure what happened to them. I never noticed any negative affects from them. They were cool to watch and I wish I still had mine.
