stop the gurgle

hi - thanks for your time.

I recently had to replumb the line that runs from the tank down to the sump. I'm using a durso stand pipe. Now I'm getting a crazy amount of gurgle noise.

Should I make the vent hole larger?

I heard if you widen the pipe at the outlet in to the sump it will reduce the noise. It was in a post I read last week.

I had a bad gurgle when I set up my new system with 2 overflows. It was baaaaad. Like a giant Mr. Coffee. Anyway, I widened the whole on top of the intake a little and that helped. I was reassured by others as I'm reassuring you, that as the plumbing gets that slippery film of bio-build up and saltcreep fills in the cracks, it will settle down.

Worked for me. Keep the faith.
