Resize a Partition
Thanks for your time..
I didn't allow enough space on my c drive when I installed xp. I want to increase the size of my c drive with out rebuilding my machine. Can you recommend any freeware/shareware products that can perform this task? I've done everything i can to try to make space: I'm moved my swap file I install all of my apps on another partition I've removed all wav and bmp files |

A google search will be your best bet.
http://partitionlogic.org.uk/download/index.html http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/U...n_Manager.html Same thing happened to me but luckily I have Partition Magic 8.0 to fix the problem.

a linux live cd, with some jumping thru hoops will do it.
the hoops are making sure that it knows its allowed to interact with the hard drives... |

Partition Magic should do the trick as well. I think they have a trial version that you could download for a one time use.

Second the Linux LiveCD... an easy one to download the ISO, burn to CD and use is Mepis Linux available from http://www.mepis.org or GParted LiveCD from http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php

I've had good luck with partition magic. Only done it two or three times, though.
Usually when I'm letting Linux resize the partition it's usually because I'm installing it.

Thanks for all of your posts...
I originally created a 6 gig partition - I found that size in a MS best practices article. I regret not going larger... I've had bad experiences w/ Norton products... |

I use the entire hard drive as 1 partition - 144g
Better to have a 2nd drive these days to store your data on then partition a drive IMO When the OS & Apps can take 6g alone - just not worth the agrravation. I have (2) 150g SATA drives, then another 120g in another PC to use for backup |

Partition Magic is easy, but if you want some "freeware", then use:
