Peppermint shrimp

I recently placed a single peppermint shrimp into my tank to control aiptasia anemones. The visible aiptasia (about 5) were gone after a single day! I'm sure there were more, but at this rate, is there a danger that the shrimp will starve? Or will the normal detritus incident to feeding fish and corals (mysids, krill, etc.), algae, and other assorted 'pods and worms be sufficient food? I want to keep this very cooperative crustacean happy!

Hi,

Peppermint shrimp will not generally eat detritus, but they will find food in most tanks. Ones that eat polyps will simply start cropping other polyps in the tank. They may eat the tentacles form larger anemones, and large corals, and likewise they may simply eat small zoanthids, star polyps, and the like.

Some peppermint shrimp do not go after polyps as much, and will eat small snails, brittle stars and such.
