Those are some hungry tangs, but it is all in blue. Almost all the video's you shoot, when I download and view them they are a light blue instead of the natural color.

Any idea's as to why maybe?

Well, the center bulb of my tank is a 400w 20,000K bulb, plus there are two 6' actinic VHOs (320w). Add to that there is no canopy so the blue floods the lens quite heavily. Woodwork would probably help.

update the version of Windows media player you are using, assuming that's what you are playing them with.

Good video I like the pics also. I spent about three weeks reading everything on your website. There is a lot of good there. I will be refering to it when I build my next sump.

The Dendrophyllia I bought at MACNA has been closed up for the past two days. I didn't know if I would ever get to feed it, but this evening its mouth was gaping open, so I seized the opportunity.

The good news is that after the lights turned off, the tentacles were fully out again. It is in Casper's tank.

I fed Casper today, and while the mysis were blowing around, the coral get a few pieces as well. Currently, it looks like a pretty flower and I'm about to feed again. I might as well strike while the iron is hot!

Marc, once it settles down I'm sure its going to love being in Caspers tank with all those Mysis flying around.

Have you heard anything about how fast they are to react to food in the water? My orange will open if I put my hand in the tank but the black are soooooo slow that I have to baste them with some juice first then after everything else has already opened and eaten they start to come out.

I can't wait to see it fully open.

Oh, and did I mention that I'm green with envy? I've wanted one ever since I saw them but 50 a polyp is a bit steep for my pocketbook at the moment. I'll just have to enjoy seeing it thrive in your tank.

Then you'll enjoy the pictures I'll be posting soon Colleen. The black suncoral is actually open more quickly than my orange suncorals. Tonight before I started feeding, it was already open partway, while the orange ones were pretty much locked down.

The Dendrophyllia is a beauty when it is happy, and when I see the mouth gaping open, I worry. Two days ago, I did a 4.5g waterchange on the 2g pico. I had some rigid airline tubing sucking out water ever so slowly, and each time it was 50% gone, I topped off with newly aged saltwater. Once it was all used up, I stopped. I also inserted one of the ROWAphos sponge pads in the HOB filter to pull out PO4 that Casper swims through.

In the 280g reef, all the corals are doing well except for Nipples. I am positive it was eaten by one or more fish, because nothing else is declining and that coral has been yanked from its spot where it was securely attached for the past couple of months. Only about 15% of it remains, and that won't be for much longer.

All my new corals from MACNA, except for the one little one that was STNing are holding strong. The little millepora continues to lose tissue daily, and not much is left. It was a tiny 1" frag, and if I still have 8 out of 9 pieces I should be content. Especially when considering what has been lost in Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana. I've been reading the MARSH (Houston) club board for the past few days, and many tanks suffered losses due to power outages and heat (no a/c in buildings/homes for several days).

A few images from this evening.

"Psssst! How would you like a good deal on some slightly used pods?"

The Peppermint Gang...

Some are somewhat pregnant.

I don't know why they line up like this daily, but it cracks me up.

And the dendrophyllia looking happier. Its mouth is virtually kissing that speck of mysis (white with black dot).

The peppermint gang is pretty cool. Do any of the babies ever survive? I put one in my tank and never saw it again. Every now and then I see a molt that doesn't belong to my skunk but thats it. I wonder if I put a gang together they would feel more secure and come out once in a while?

The Dendrophyllia is stunning. I wonder if Casper will like it as a hitching post.

I actually just sold the ozonizer I'd purchased used. My ORP is so high I simply don't feel I have the need for it. Plus I don't have to worry about relying on yet one more piece of equipment.

The ORP is reading 460 yesterday and 475 today. That seems quite high, and I've tried moving the probe to see if anything is affecting it and the numbers don't change. Any suggestions?

this is the ORP that is hooked up to u'r aqua controller right?
may bee u can use someone's ORP meter to see if u get a diferent reading.

Yes, it is connected to the Aqua Controller II, and Curt told me I could connect it up without the need to calibrate it. I bought it from him at MACNA, new in the box. If I need to calibrate it, I need to buy the solution and wait for that to come in.

That sounds a little high. A dirty ORP probe tends to read high. I give very little meaning in the actual level of ORP, look more for consistency.

I would still hook one up on a real low setting and just see what it does.
