Red face Well, its shedding season...

Looks like shedding season has finally hit. I cant even pet the cats without getting a furry palm. Its just starting in the chinchillas. Soon it will hit the gerbils, degus, hamsters and rabbit. Then its going to be fur blizzards. Anyone else have the Shedding Season blues?

Furry palms, is that the same as hairy palms?

All of my pets have already shed, the cat still has a little bit but not much, other kitty had a really heavy winter coat but evidientally shed sometime but never did see it, and the dog shed about month and a half ago. Believe me, be lucky your cats don't shed like my dog! I'm betting he lost a pound of hair, I would take it out by the handfulls. When the cat & dog would wrestle there would be huge clumps of dog hair on the floor (it was especially funny to watch them at that point because the cat likes to bite the dog and everytime he did he would have to spit out a mouthfull of hair ). Good thing I only have to put up with it for about a month then its all done 'till next year.

It's just NOW shedding season for you??? Wow, consider yourself lucky. Both my dogs began molting like three weeks ago. By the time they stop it should be winter again and time to grow their winter coats back in. Unitl then, there's dog hair everywhere!

Brush! Brush! Brush! Eventually they'll run out of hair to fall out. One thng I love about Harley, shed really bad for a few weeks but after all that undercoat is off he's done and doesn't hardly shed at all again.

with just beagles we don't notice shedding season too much. It's actually worse for us in the fall when their winter coats come in for some reason. When my aussie gets here (6 days and counting!) then the definition of shedding shall be rewritten. Tumbleweeds indoors anyone?

corgis shed. year 'round. buckets and buckets. my siberians couldn't hold a candle to my corgis. shed shed and shed some more. here's the best thing i've ever found...

http://www.furminator.com/

the "treatment", i.e., bath, isn't all that necessary although it's nice to start with a clean dog. the tool "rakes" the undercoat out. for those with double-coated dogs, this thing is a must. it costs about $50 and you have to get it from a groomer who is a good enough friend to order one for you.

There was a guy here yesterday to do some touch up painting. He told me his mom has 55 inside cats. I would think the smell of the litter boxes would kill them all. At the very least, they would be smothered to death with all the shedding going on.
