The inwall 600 project has started !

I have already built the stand, and canopy last year when we finished in our basement, It will divide 2 rooms with viewing on 3 sides, all sheetrocked in ( greenboard ofcourse ) with a mech. room off to one side. So now I have ordered a 600 gallon tank from ATM in Las Vegas, and have a ASM G-6 coming, also a Hammerhead Reeflo from Sequence, The lighting is up in the air still, I have 3 250 watts MH's and 10 96 watt pcs's I'm thinking another 3 250 watt MH's should do it? let me know .
I want to start posting pics, I have aol as a provider, and I dont know how to load them direct into the posting instead of a link to the " my gallery" in RC
Thanks for any help
Chris

As for posting pictures... go check out www.imagelink.org
It's a free account, and you can post a few amount of pictures .. just re-size them so they don't use up all your image space.

Talk to you soon !

Anyway this is one view of the tank location, 4 foot by 8 foot 30" tall, you can see the door to the mechanical room off to the right, its actually the area under the stairs! thats all the room my wife would let me have I will post some more soon, but till the tanks arrives in a few weeks not a whole lot I can take pictures of

Nice, I'm looking into a big tank once we add on to our house. The wife is calling it a Great Room, I'm calling it my fish room
Keep the pics coming as you go along

That is looking great so far.

Here is the best place I have found to host pictures. There is on limit on how many photos. Plus it is extremely quick and easy to use.

Looks good. How will you access the tank? Is the canopy portion in your picture drywall?

anthworks good question, in the photo I had not yet cut the hole in the canopy, I'm working on that right now, I have a 11" x 84" access above, basically the whole length of the tank, on both sides, I am building a hinged set of doors right now, and I'll snap a photo of that when its done

I am so envious. What i could do with 600 gallons

That is, if I could manage to afford the salt for 20% water changes.

You wouldn't want me to "break" if there was a tank there.
Beware of the flying balls!

Yeah, its actually an air hockey table, those damn disks can get to flying! I never even thought about it, but I guess on the rare occasion we play hockey , I may have to put up a blanket or something, the worse it would do is a small scratch though I think.
Also yes the upkeep will be high, 20% water changes? I rarely ever do 10% on my 180 maybe every couple months, but I mainly keep softies and clams, I'll upload a pic soon, so we'll see what it likes, the huge protein skimmer will keep organics down, and I'll just have to ad the elements as needed.

o.k. what about the live sand I have in my current 180 reef its been in there for 4 years, its about 3-4" deep, can i move it without stirring up a problem? I think when I moved from the last house I had it in there for a few years and had no problems, just wondeing if it should be o.k.
The doors are done also, I will upload a few pics, I need help trying to decide how to "prop" the doors up while in the tank.
Also the tank is being built in Las Vegas now, should have it soon, I'll have my wife take photos while we lug it in the house

We ran Into a snag, the guy that ordered the tank for me is no longer with the company, so I may be back to square one. I'm waiting to find out if the tanks has even been started yet? So if anyone is following this, I'll get an update when I know something more. ;(

bummer on the snag,

as far as the sand, I dont really believe in old tank syndrome, BUT...... when will be the next chance you get to replace all the sand.
Now would problably be a good time to completey start over on the sand bed. Save some current for seed.
