All I can say is after you build something like that, set it up, sit back and look at it you must feel like. And there are not too many of things that feel that darn good.
Like one person said already, I have been diving places that look a lot like that tank. And I have never seen one that was that close to the reef formations with the sand trail throught the middle. Absolutely awsome and now this is for you.

Steve, are those Heniochus pretty reef safe? After I watched a pair of H. acuminatus absolutely ravage some corals in a friend's tank...that little group would be making me nervous. Then again, I don't know much about that species in particular.

Skysdale. .... This species out of Hawaii is reef safe. They are schoolers and open water plankton feeders. They stay together and wait for something to float by...they don't even pick at rock.

steveweast, i noticed that you had to resize/lower the quality of the images and misses a lot of details we cant see since RC only limits you 50k. Would you mind sending me the better quality pics to my home email? My home email is eanzaldua@houston.rr.com

ok, i just realized you posted pics of the back!! Wow! I finally understand when you meant sliding the lights out of the way. That looks awesome!! Thats another benefit of having a tank in the garage! I think I need a bigger garage now. Truly an inspiration. Your tank has always been my favorite since day 1. Its clean, its colorful, its creative, and its HUGE! What more can you ask for?

As an Engineer who owns a tank, I'd have to say that being able to basically set such a large tank on the ground (i.e. positioned so that you only have to bend over to reach in when you work on it) is a great move!!

Very, very, nice tank...and setup!!

i would surely like to see a website for this tank...all the equipment is very nice to see (even though i can only figure out what half of it is).... surely TOM quality or even TOY. how strong is the eggcrate u ahve the rocks on? i noticed mine seems brittle and was worried the rocks would crush it.... do u have any diagrams of the plumbing or anything? and what do u use to keep the sand clean or plan on using....thanx very much and WOW that is freakin awesome... you got all the cool fish and corals IN ONE!

Umm, is it just me or is that garage ridiculously clean. Not to mention huge. Why does your garage look nicer than my family room? And by the way, it goes without saying that your tank is ridiculously amazing.

Wow steveweast, you have done one magnificent job on thank tank. It literally looks like a reef in the ocean, my wife also agrees Just for kicks, how much do you have invested? Any pics of the plumbing?

Thanks again all....

Godlyme.....eggcrate can be pretty brittle. I use the closed loop piping as the structure to support the eggcrate. I make sure that the eggcrate doesn't span more than about 5 inches without support.

Labrat31....there are some plumbing pics on page 3. Since this was an upgrade and I reused all the equipment, the total cost is an elusive number. But, the upgrade was in $6K-7K range.
