Alk question

I have been having an issue getting my alk up. For some reason I can't quite get it above 7- 7.5 KH.
My parameters;
Ca-405 mag-1240 Sal-1.025.
I have about 200lbs of LR and I dose with reefbuilder Ca and ALk. I started with the beginner recommendation, 3 TSP for Ca and 3 1/2 tsp ALK twice a week, but lately it seems that I have been having to add more ALK(2-3 1/2 tsp daily) than anything to keep the ALK up at around 7-8. Is this normal with a small to medium SPS load?

Thanks ,
Scott

Supplementation will of course depend on calcium uptake. Have any large clams? Obviously something is up taking the alk quickly.

Have you tried raising your calcium and magnesium? Or is that driving your alk too low?

Alk of 7-7.5 isn't terrible. Is there a particular reason you want to raise it?

I think you have to rise you mag to above 1400, mag is what makes alk and cal get along in saturated conditions
