Oh lol. Okay. I don't remember that. =) I am getting old! I am dl photoshop to see if I can use that to decrease the size to put a picture on my avatar. =( Since this is a mac, I can't use most things people can to resize pics. Please tell me if any of you know what I can use. Thank you =) So blktank, I guess that's like saying I need magic right? ;-)

There is a graphics program called GIMP that you may find helpful and has many features that can be found in high dollar programs like PhotoShop. Best part is, that it's Open Source Software and absolutely FREE.

Excerpt from the GIMP website:

GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

You can find the Mac (OSX) version HERE.

Drop the image into iphoto if it's not there already.

Select it, within iphoto. Do File/Export.

Select JPG as the format (if it's not already) and enter the size in the boxes. (150 x 150) is the max here.

Click okay.

Don't forget there is also a file size limit of 8192 bytes... you may have to save your pic at a lower resolution.

If you need to make the file size smaller you can open it in Preview and do a save as.

You'll get a popup box with a quality slider. The lower the quality the smaller the file.

Resize it, with iphoto, to 150 x 150.

Then load it in preview and do a "save as" adjusting the quality down until it's small enough.

You can check by clicking on the resulting file and doing a "file/get info" (CMD + i)

I tried that beer guy. =( I didn't get a slider. All it does is save as and it's saves it. This is not my mac. LOL I'd have a PC if I could.

If you've got Photoshop (or elements) or another photo editor you can avoid the multiple steps. This route is for if you've only got the builtin software.
