Why are gas prices so high again?

They are like $3.00/gal again here. They had been leveling off and now back up. Did I mis some great event?? Or just because they can?
Just a question not a political debate on blah, blah

Because many of the manufacturers have now switched to their "summer mix" from their "winter mix". The former being more expensive because fo the composition (more ethanol, I believe).

They do it because they can. Its a very sore point, but I wont digress.

There are already other technologies that could be instituted that would make fossil fuels obsolete, but too many **concerned parties** already have their appendages embedded into the status quo.

I WISH it was only 3 bucks.

It appears it went up again for some strange reason last night. 3.25 this morning at the pump where it was only 3.21 last night. Premium went all the way up to 3.45. GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Its called Biodisel. Its easy and cheap to refine. Makes people behind you crave french fries though It smells like fast food.

It's nice to have a 35 gallon tank on my truck since I only need to fill once a month, but dang it's expensive when I do. I filled up yesterday for just under $100.

They pay for gas just like you and I do. When their price goes up the pump price goes up. There is actually very little markup above the price that the station owner pays.

It is usually by phone call.

Many times the store owner does not own the tanks. They are owned by the distributor. The distributor tells the store what they expect to get for a gallon of gas, and the store owner changes the price to reflect that. Sometimes, say if a price drops, the distributor will tell the store they can drop the price, but if the store thinks they can still sell it at the current price, they can keep it there to make more profit.

And yes, stores actually make very little profit on fuel sales.

It's really crazy to think back over the past 15 years. In 1992 gas was $ .89 per gal. and now it's almost 3 times that (no I didn't do the math, not my job!).

If it ever gets to $5.00 per gal. I'll have to sell one of my cars just to pay for gas and at that time noone will want to buy a car. Talk about a catch 22. Geez!
