Requesting permission to slap the CRP out of a VIP

Sorry CRP - not you

So a guy w/a 180m mailbox calls in last night & has a ticket created at 10:45p. Our good old call program doesn't page me but does page my backup
I get paged at about 11:20, then 5 minutes later paged again that the user wants a call back by 11:30p or he is going to bed
So I call him without looking at the ticket
He can't get in via VPN
Go thru all the normal troubleshooting steps, not working
He can't access his mail thru webmail either
Problem with laptop, bring it tomorrow AM (today)

He brings it in, at 9:30a I re-install the VPN software & test
Everything is working A-OK
I let them know, have him come down to the lab & check the VPN on our external DSL line to make sure
1:30pm - His admin says he isn't copming down & to drop off the laptop - I get this E-mail/VM at about 2:30p
Bring the laptop up at about 3pm, leave a note (no-one there) that he should login on the network before bringing it home
Get a call from Admin at 4pm - still having a problem
Have him come down with laptop & we will test it on the DSL
Nope, he's on a conference call that will last until after 5pm
I'm OFF WORK at 5pm, SHE KNOWS THIS!!

4:58, call from VIP, not working - tells me error
Yup - that's a server error - you will need to call the Help Desk & have the Exchange Admin group resolve the issue
VIP - No, that's not it - I don't think that is the problem
ME - I'll be right up (11th floor)
Get up there - NO-ONE IS THERE!
Verify the Exchange server error, leave a note - call Help Desk & enter a ticket for the Exchange group
I leave to meet wife to drive home
PAGED while driving home, VIP wants a call
I don't use my cell phone while driving in rush hour traffic
Get home, jump on the internet, VERIFY error/problem, only an Exchange Admin can fix the issue
Call VIP - No answer

He's a nice guy....But I HATE LUSERS WHEN I diagnose the problem & they TELL ME NO THAT's NOT IT!!

Yes LUSER, your miniscule experience FAR outweighs my 20 years of experience!!

SLAP!!!

Yeah, that too

I'm multi-tasking here, and not doing it well.

Used to be the connection of a LAN network connection was 10m & a 10BT connection (10-base-T or 10t)
I had some real doozies of girls who had no clue on PC's years ago. I told them to call my co-worker Ken & tell then they had a problem
They asked what they should say
I said write this down:

You have an "ID" problem

with the "10T" connection

Took them a while to figure that one out

I had a user tell me the computer was farting at them and that I would not be able to fix it.

Uh...ok....was all I could manage to say because up to that point it was clearly the dumbest thing I had a user say to me.

Sadly, I have come across dumber users.

At my place, VP stands for
VERY POMPUS!

It never ceases to amaze me how some college educated persons can not actually think for themselves.

Proof that commom sense isn't very commom.

Sorry for the rant..but I do feel better now.
