temp.
so i got home today and i think one of my cats unplugged my fans at sometime today and the temp was 85 i dont know for how long. all my corals and fish look okay and the temp back to 79 is there going to be damage later on or if nothings happend yet am i out of the woods

My guess is everything will be fine. If anything was stressed I would say would have seen it already

My temp probe fell out of the tank somehow and the temp that I always keep right at 79 was up to 86 for the better part of a day (around 8 hours). I didn't lose anything..........very surprised. Nothing even looked stressed so I think you are good.

I'd be very surprised if you did lose anything from a day at 86 unless you normally keep the tank much cooler. That's a normal temp for coral reefs.

Because that's what lots of books recommend and lots of people are under the false impression that being on the cooler side of normal is safer or provides some extra margin of error. There's certainly nothing wrong with 78, but there's nothing wrong with the low to mid 80s either.

I keep my temps around 150-170 degrees and it burns my hands, but everything else is fine.
