dude. find a LFS that will give you store credit or sell it. I have made somewhere between 500 and 800 from store credit from my xenia last year and i'm gonna bring in a bunch in next week.

best weed i ever planted. that and the free kenya tree whose frags got me a nice goniopora for free.

Dont kill it... you should give it away to other reefers that may want some.

Contact some LFS's and see if you can trade for new LR. They would be nutty not to, they could probably sell each of those very large rocks for 150 plus. I would think you could get new rock plus some other credit most likely.

well after global warming wipes out the reefs, you'll have enough zenia to seed the great barrier reef!

Man, that is a lot of Xenia! I would stop by all the LFS' and get credit for everything I could, then offer it up for free to the local reef club. People will definitely grab some.

Good luck on thinning the forrest down!

Reduce the nutrients in your tank and the xenia will grow less. Xenia loves a nutrient rich tank. Make it nutrient poor and it won't love your tank anymore.

I feel your pain. Had the same problem with anthelia till one day when I just got mad enough and started yanking out fiji rocks infested with it and throwing them in the garbage. Should have taken them to LFS for trade on new rocks but was too ticked to think about that at the time. But I too had massive coraline growth when all the anthelia was in there. Needless to say but an anthelia still pops up here and there and I pull it out on sight because of how fast it grows. It really should be considered a pest.

I feel your pain. This is what I had before I had to take all the rocks out and sell/trade them in.At least yours has not creeped up the glass to the top of the tank.I had it in the overflows, powerheads, heater cords and anywhere else it could attach.I managed to make enough credit to buy my current setup, including the lights! The bad thing now is every reefer in the area has the stuff. But,I still see people selling the stuff in all the lfs.

I notice you guys seem to be having problems with Pom-Pom Xenia, do all Xenia grow this fast? I have some Silver Branch Xenia that looks like this http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...m?pCatId=2390, and it hasn't spread at all since I got it almost 2 months ago.

Me too!
I say just go with the flow, and add a bunch of clown fish.

That would be a good expamle of the buffer part of a real reef in between the algae and the reef. These sections of the reef soak up the nutrients from land, and this could be a cool 'biotype' tank.

If you don't like it, I would just change out all the live rock.

Nice tank!!

trade in the rock with xenia on it for new rock and some store credit, use the credit to get a couple urchins that will eat the coraline

No it won't, some people used to maintain their dKH as high as 18 and had no problems keeping Xenia and many other corals.

if you want to kill all the xenia in one big move just get a little bit of water with fluke tab and it will take them all down. I did it to mine by mistake about 2 weeks ago.
