My African Flameback angel was reefsafe or at least for the yr that I had him. Woke up one day to see that he went pergo floor surfing the night before. I miss that fish!

How big was your flameback before he went all-out?

Revised: Pygmy Cherub, Lemonpeel, African or Australian Flameback
Anyone have anything to say about this guys. This do need to be reefsafe, I know its not set in stone but is one of these better than the other?

I have an african flameback in my 30 gallon cube. He nips frequently at my favia septa frag but I don't have much else in there to interest him (zoas, shrooms, featherduster, palys).
I've been told by a marine biologist that 30 gallons is too small for him even though vendors like LiveAquaria say 30 gallons is fine. So I worry....I can't catch the lil bugger though to put him in my other tank because he is WAY to smart and too fast. |

What is the best recommendation? Add dwarf angel first or corals first?

corals definitely, other wise they are much more of a temptation, like "oh, look, he's feeding me"

And he's in a 20? That's incredible that he isn't picking on corals.

There are essentially three kinds of pygmies that look similar, Check out this month's reefkeeping magazine on the RC home page for a really good description.
1. Brazillian flameback, distinguished by the yellow extending the entire length of the back but tail is blue. 2. African flameback, yellow extending down the back and the tail is yellow. 3. Cherub, Yellow only on the face area. Hope this helps, sorry, I don't have experience with 2 and 3 but the brazillian has been great. I do love the guy, swims well and is not shy. And yes he's doing great in a 20H.

Okay, well I'm giving up on this thread. As it turns out, dwarf angels are too unpredictable in the reef safe category. I'm thinking my other fish may be a sixline.

Here's my Coral Beauty. He's only been in the tank for 2 days and introduced ich, but other than that, he's the perfect fish.

we're looking at getting a mulitbarred...if he eats the corals so be it, at least he'll be eating. i'd wait for the larger set up, but i found a great specimen and am not sure if i can pass them up. it's rare enough to see them, it's even more rare to see them healthy and eating.
