Sounds good to me, though I will still owe you for the site if that ever works out.

What does dripping kalk actually do? Is it like an auto top off or does the kalk add smething to the tank?

if it isn't, it is in the autotopoff and it buffers ph and adds calcium (hence kalk-wasser, german for calcium water)

Is it worth making a DIY kalk dripper? I saw one in Reefkeeping and it seems pretty easy and cheap.

also, my cleanup crew came today. i floated the bags for a few minutes, and let them acclimate themselves. the nassarius snails i got are tiny.

actually kalkwasser is the german term for limewater

you drip kalk to keep up with the amount of makeup or topoff water you need but yes, as stated above it does actually do something for the water

I have a new thing of kalk (2 little fishies I think?) and a brand new unopened drip container (Kent) that I probably am not going to be using...if you want to work something out.

It does not buffer pH. Buffers by definition stabilize pH at a certain value because they're amphotheric. Kalk, or Ca(OH)2 increases pH and decreases alkalinity in your tank by causing carbonate to precipitate out. It can increase your calcium concentration though.

Umm, I think the drip container was like 20, and the kalk was 10. The whole thing was around 30ish I guess, and it's still unopened...

Oh, plus shipping. I think I got the stuff from MD so you can look if you want, and maybe we could work something out.

I'm going to Hawai'i! All expenses paid! Plus free SCUBA certfication!

Since my parents could not afford to send me to HI (Bob's house is there), Bob has offered to pay fully for my passage there, back, and to get SCUBA certified. Plus, I get to stay at his house. Holy crap! This is awesome!
