Naso Tang Food??

I bought a Naso Tang 2 weeks ago and quarantined him/her for 2 weeks. He would not eat a thing while in quarantine. I released him into my Reef Tank and noticed he was picking/eating off of the rocks. I know they are known for eating bubble algae but will that sustain him? I tried feeding Formula 2, green seaweed, Spiriluna flakes, krill, brine shrimp and nori without success but, he is eating off of the rocks. Any suggestions? Thanks

I really hope the search (within a forum) function was down and you actually tried to research this prior to asking BUT...

Here's some old threads that should help:
http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...=naso+tang+eat

http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...=naso+tang+eat

The second one has my suggestions for getting a naso to eat.

I don't mean to be hard on you but if you had any idea how often this question is asked, you might understand. The only questions that are asked more often are the ones involving mandarin gobies eating.

My Naso is the best eater in my tank. I feed marine flakes, mysis, krill, bloodworms, brine, as well as Ocean Nutrition and Bio-Blend pellets. He's an eating machine.

You might try soaking food in garlic juice or Selcon to induce eating.

Evilmel, appreciate the links and help but not the sarcasm. The foods that I listed were from suggestions from other threads. My question had to do with, why would this fish eat from the rocks and not food given. Have never read about this particular situation wiithin the threads. Thanks again for the help

I wasn't being sarcastic at all actually, maybe a bit b*tchy but if that's what you meant it was extremely unclear.

Try some mysis soaked in garlic and see if that will help.
Here is some good info on Naso's http://www.wetwebmedia.com/naso.htm

Of all tangs and surgeons seems like Naso's take the longest to start eating prepared foods. Just keep trying everything you can and he will come around for ya.

Try some calupera macro algae. Our tang (sailfin) loves the stuff and it doesn't tear into a million pieces like nori. It also likes the red branching macro algae as well. Check the plant forums for where you can get the macro if the LFS around you doesn't carry them

My Blond Naso didn't eat prepared foods for about 1 week after being introduced. Now he eats Mysis, brine clams, dried seaweed and LOVES Calerpa from my 'fuge.
