Laptop Must Haves

Ok as many of you may have seen I purchased a new laptop today. I am wondering what accessories are a must have. I am looking at a carrying case, and possibly a mini mouse. What else do you think I will need?

For laptop bags I am currently inclined toward these:

A good lock would be a good investment.

The mouse is a MUST have, for sure. An extra battery is always a nice thing to have just in case you need it. And headphones, in case you want to listen to tunes or if you are working on something that makes noise.

Ok I ordered a wireless optical mouse, and a case. I am going to wait on the battery as it is $100 and I am broke now. I have some headphones laying around here somewhere.

Got wireless built in? If not, get a wireless G card.

A really nice set of headphones, a wireless mouse, and a lap bing bang tray to rest your new laptop on while watching tv.

Yes built in wireless b and g. I also got the router.

For a tray I have one of those boards with a bean bag on it, like a lap desk. Would that work?

A power inverter for your car to run the charger, and Earthmate GPS . . I have both and never get lost anymore, used it on a trip from Boston to Raleigh NC last year and it worked perfectly, even when I missed a turn and ended up somewhere in NYC, it redirected me back on course.

I was actually looking at that earthmate the other day at Target. Sounds like a cool little gizmo. Maybe I will get that.

your bean bag thing should work fine. However, if you travel a lot with it and want to hold it on your lap, you might want to check out the cooling pads. They are just simple plastic pads you put it on that have fans built in to keep it (and your lap) from getting too hot.

Also, if you find you don't like the wireless mouse (changing batteries etc.) you should check out the Kensington mouse with the retractable usb cable. It is pretty nice.

Laptop Must Haves

OK you asked for it.

A nice set of headlights, they don't have to be big.

Nice round and tight caboose. RC thong optional

Good grinding music.

1. Laptop case that is small. I use a leather sleeve from incase that fits my 17" PB perfectly. I will never carry around a huge bag for a laptop.
2. Wireless mouse. I like the bluetooth mouse from Logitech.
3. Good headphones. I use Etymotic Research ER4-P's.

good idea. A new study in fertility was launched showing a decline in fertility along with prolonged laptop use on a bare lap. The heat will boil your eggs!

What about a docking station, if you have teh room? I use a laptop at work and put it in a docking station when I'm there.

When I have to go on tavel, I've got the regular dell bag that they gave me with the computer that seems to hold everything, computer, cables, 3 different types of drives as well as some media. And it has a nice sholder strap for carrying thru the airport.

IMO as far as laptop cases I would go with the backpack look. My ex has a backpack laptop case. Just to look at the backpack it looks like it'll have history books or something in it. Not too appealing to theaves n such. However if you had a typical laptop bag everyone will know what you're carrying. JMO.

I also carry a pistol, so they are more than welcome to try and steal my laptop.
