ID Help Again!
I went surfing this morning in Malibu, CA., and after I was done, I took a look around the local rock right off to the side of the beach and I found these.
http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/...bu6_edited.jpg Are they some type of anemone or coral? Some of them ween't submerged in the water, only catching the water from the wave breaks or tides rinsing the rocks. The colors ranged from pinkish white to white with some purple. The tentacles also pointed to a tip and hadf some brown or black stripes on them. Most of these photos were taken while the animal was not covered in water. Probably wouldn't be wise to add one of these to my tank huh? Thanks Again!

I would say they are anemones. You do know thats illegal? Also, I wouldnt put anything strait from the beach in my tank. (with the exception of boiled sand)
I would say they are just rock anemones (dont know the scientific name)

temerate coldwater animals usually won't do well in a tropical tank.

they look like anemones and unless your tank is a cold water one you should return them where you got them from or they will die.

Thanks everyone,
I didn't remove them from the beach so they're not in my tank. And after giving some thought I did come to the conclusion that the water is much colder than my tank and that it was also illegal. Really strange though that they survive in the tides only. Very beautiful anemones I thought. Thanks Again Everyone!

not too strange that they survive in tides as many food items are washed over it at least twice daily.

Yeah, I went to the Long Beach Aquarium yesterday and they had similar "Tide Pool" anemones that I was able to touch...guess what guys, the tentacles aren't stinging to the touch, very different from the I.O. anemones. And the water was very very frigid. I also, couldn't find a scientific name for them while at the aquarium...strange. The employees there just call them Tide Pool Anemones.
Thank you everyone for your input, appreciated as usual. By the way everyone, Rick is a wealth of information...thanks again Rick!
