How many Koralia in my 75

Just like the subject line, how many Koralia do you think I should have and what model. 75 Mixed tank 100 plus lbs of live rock. sps top lps mid to bottom and softies as well. 1.5 in sand bed. So sand storms are a worry of mine. Wow I didnt know those little guys could push that much water. Any insight would be great.

If you are going to be doing SPS i would do no less then two 4's. That would give you around 32x turnover for a 75 gallon tank which would be suitable for sps

Do you have a sump? If so, what is the return gph?

I would try to push you to at least 30x flow.
Two Koralia #3's would be the bare minimum. If you had a 300gph retrun minimum that would carry you to 27x flow. Anything more on the return would carry you to or over 30x probably.

If you are sumpless, then I would do two Koralia #4's and that would get you 32x flow.

Place them on opposite ends of the tank aiming towards one another in a "X" like direction.

my sump return pump is rate at 685 gph? dont know if its true its a cheap ca-2200. Will I have any problems the the sand blowing around. Thanks for the quick repy.

If it is rated at 685gph then you are probably getting 400 - 500 gph on your return. With that in mind two Koralia #3's would probably be just fine. Consider yourself good with that... or two #4's would be extra good. Decision is yours.

In my 75g tank listed below in my signature, I have a #2 and a #3 in my display. I also have roughly 450gph return with my Mag 7. I find it hard to keep my sand from blowing around with about 2000gph flowing around my tank. That is a 25X turnover.

I dont plan on keeping any SPS, just LPS and softies....

For SPS keeping, I would do 2- #4's minimum....

I have 2 3s and 420 return and it isn't enough (sps). I plan to add more flow when I can.

The flow from the Korallia is more gentle and not like a strong narrow stream. IMO, I would get at least 3 Korallia number 4's. Heck, even 4 of those would be nice!

Now im getting mixed reviews, the price difference is not a problem between the 3s and 4s, im just worried about the sand blowing around. Im not going to point the ph down on the sand they will be 3-4 inches below the water blowing towards the top layer of the rocks where my sps is placed, I also will have them on a AS wavemaker blowing towards each other on seperate cycles. Does anyone have anything else they want to add. Im still torn between 3s and 4s.

For SPS, and with your current return two #4's will be fine. That will push you almost to 40x flow. Your SPS will thrive in that.

I have 3x koralia2s in my 75g with about 400gph after headloss coming from my return, and a mj900 at 230gph.
I wish that when I purchased the koralias I had gone with 3s instead of 2s, thier flow is gentle enough that I still have some spots that could use more.
The extra mj900 has helped with that though by adding a strong directional flow aimed at certain spots.(I will probably mjmod the 900 at some time to get more flow out of it.)

From left to right I have hk2 aimed toward front glass and diagonally right, hk2 aimed toward front glass diagonally right, return pump aimed at front left corner (diagonally left), hk in back right corner aimed at front glass diagonally left, and mj on right end at upper front aimed at back of tank diagonally down to put current behind rockwork. The mj has dug a hole in my sand in back right corner, but rest of sand is stationary, and after first day that hole has remained static in size.

Thanks for all the input guys. Im going with 2 number 3s and upgrading my return pump with a rio 2500 plus(782 gph). I guess dr. F & S had people return the 4s due to being way to intense, we will see. If I need more flow I have 2-MJ 1200 and 2 MJ-900.

I have 2 #3s in my 75g with about 450gph coming from my return. I have had issues with the sand moving a little. The key is that you use the length of the tank to disperse the flow. As FrankthetankTX stated, aim them at each other in an X shape from opposite ends of the tank. You should be fine.
