Mushrooms, Way Too Many

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of mushrooms. They are taking over my rock!

I have tried to cut them off at the rock, but as you know they come back quick.

I need more drastic and permanent measures!

Thanks!

Tim

Suggestion: talk to your lfs and see if they will trade some LR with your shroom rock. Sell/trade with others.

You can chip them off with a chisel and sell them. You can sqrirt lime on them and kill them. I also think something called Joes Juce will kill them.

kalk paste or joes juice. Kalk paste is cheaper and pretty much the same thing. Just mix up a scoop with a cup of water and you can kill a lot with it.

I'd prefer to trade for new rock; however, most is on the bottom of tank. Anyone in Central PA want mushrooms?

The kalk might be quickest, but I have many mushrooms. How will the die-off affect the tank?

I would only kill a few at a time if you are going to, unless they are small. If they are really big I would think it could put a bit of a bioload on your tank if you kill too many at a time.

it's called 'aquaculture'.

I've been using the kalk paste method and it works great if you can get to them. I fill a syringe with the paste and inject the middle of the mushroom.

I would try to remove them and sell/give them away before killing them off. Helps to pay for the tank this way as well.

timmcq,

I'm in Elizabethtown and I'm a shroom fan. What kind are they? PM me if you'd like.

Thanks,
Grant

Razor blades are only a temporary fix since they just grow back. I would love to sell trade my rock but impossible to remove since they are scattered throughout my 450 gallon tank. I have about 350 pounds of rock and they seem to enjoy having one or two mushrooms on most of my rock.
