Nice colony JRod. Mine's in a quiet spot about 2/3 down a 90 gallon under a 6 bulb Tek fixture. Growing very fast compared to a lot of corals. I lost a branch at the beginning (probably to rough handling) but it's growing like a weed now.

broke1 that's awesome. From those first pictures it really didn't look like it would make it.

Started from a frag from JRod.

I'd like to drag this back up mostly because I like to see this piece in different environments. Here is my "smoked" piece making a slow but gradual recovery.

I'm glad I didn't throw this one away.

One thing I will add as far as what was mentioned earlier in this thread about taking corals out of the water......sure it doesnt bother MOST sps for extended periods of time........except for very thin branched species such as some birdsnests. You need to be careful with the ambient room temps(especially in the wintertime) when pulling these corals out of the tank for fragging. Their thin branches get cold fast. Here is an example of being out of the wter for 15 minutes that wouldnt have phased a thicker coral........but I had a window open and it got cold......hindsight ya know

Ive got a little baby ponape as well, mine is whitish with the pink tips too as I keep it in higher light........I like it like that

OOPS. it healed fine of course after I cut all the dead tips off

Do not mind at all, a little flattered actually

Note how low in the tank I keep mine, after a little reading some years back I learned this is a lower light coral.

Is this the same coral as the colorful ones shown in this thread?

This was sold to me as a Ponape Birdsnest frag in June, and what it has changed into under175 watt MH with high flow on the bottom of my 75. The branches are longer and very similar to my regular pink birdsnest, this just has the green tint in the shaded areas.
