Lps Id

It looks to me like an acan, micromussa, or some weird favites.

It came from the Indo-Pacific.

Any help would be nice!

Jake what size are the polyps and can you get a better shot (less blurry)? Any areas of exposed skeleton? It kind of looks like an acan, what LFS did you pick it up from?

I actually got it from my wholesaler, polyps are about dime size. I can't get a better picture since my digi sucks. I took about 8 of them and that was the best one.

Here's another one, it was taken 2 minutes after my lights came on, the first was about 20 minutes later. You can see the tentacle sweepers here.

Devin, I sent pics to Mike to see if he can identify it. There is a 1 polyp skeleton visible and I spent a lot of time last night trying to match it up with one.

LOL devin that would be a reefermaddness picture. BTW I will begin fragging for locals only in 2 weeks. I want it to settle into my tank before I start breaking it. Here is a crisper pic.

Hi,

it looks more like a Caulastrea with open polyps to me, not like an acan.

Caulastrea usually has a different polyp arrangement, Most are elevated polyps and not matted. I talked to another friend and he also believes it's micromussa.

Looks like Caulastrea to me. From the pic it doesn't look like the tissue is connected on the polyps.

I wish they weren't connected, it would much easier to frag.

Deff. need a better pic then. if it is Favia or acan I wouldn't worry about fragging it. As long as it's a healthy piece it should frag just fine
