This is my favorite of the leopard family...a choati wrasse. You don't see these ones available very often.

Did any of you order your leopard wrasses online? I cannot find them in my LFS but I am worried about getting them shipped...

Shipping is definitely an issue with leopard wrasses more so than the average fish. I found an online vendor that has the coveted choati wrasses available but am hesitant to order. I purchased my bipartus from an LFS and would recommend only going that route.

the potters was a male. Males have bright blue dots all over. Females have little dull blue dots only on back side.

If you ever order a leopard online make sure they bag it VERY VERY heavy... I bag 2" potters wrasses in 10" bags whenever i ship to LFS or people. I've had good success with potters leopards. I havn't tried any other
I plan to get some Choati's but hesitant, because i have to get them from Australia and its a 20 hour flight to HNL by the time i get them out of the bag.. We'll see i guess

Here are some pics of my leopard wrasse. He was my favorite fish, but unfortunately after not seeing him for a few days he turned up with a torn off fin, completely gone. He was just spinning in the water like a torpedo, unable to control his swimming. I netted a niger trigger in the tank shortly after, he was the only fish who could have done it, and my anthias were turning up with nipped fins.

little of both. Trying to get away from retail unless its a big order. Not worth my time unless there is 2-5 boxes worth. which one person can't do if they are a hobbiest.

PM me

Twon, sorry bout the loss, thats an awseome fish. I had one a while ago that must have shipped poor and died after about a week. It was my fault though b/c I didnt inspected him very well at the LFS. I really want to give another one a try the right way but my mom doesnt want to after the last experience..

How much sand do yall have for yours? I currently only have about an inch, if i remember correctly they need more like 2 or 3 right?

an inch is fine. As long as there is enough room for them to burry, it is fine.

I had mine in a bb, so I had a small rubbermaid container with about 3 inches of sand. He slept there every night for the five months i had him

lol, cute... a Leopard Bed... haha

Im just going to get some Bahamma Oolite or Sugar Size Aragonite sand to use in there for him...

So far he seems ok.. I honestly think he has adapted from not having a sandbed... he sleeps right next to a small rock covered in feather calurpa... every night.

and is still eatting Mysis like mad...

Im raising Brine for him and for my Female Blackline fang blenny! so I will be interested to see if he likes brine.

mine ate everything, flake, mysis, brine, nori, and while mine did sleep under some rocks at first, once he found the rubbermaid he was there every night, at lights out you could see the sand getting tossed around as he snuggled into it.

Meleagris are by far the most common, but bipartitus show up every now and then. Again, the major difficulty is getting a healthy specimen.

Still very tempted by ordering a choati, but can't get past the shipping...
