How does one tell the difference btw a blenny and a goby? Can someone point a link. Thx.

They've always fascinated me, real audacious character....like 'wha'da lookin at' sort .

We have what is supposed to be a bi-color blenny, but he's all black. When we first got him, you could see a hint of orange on his lower half, but as he's grown, he's all black. Could he be something else, or just a mutant bi-color?

blennies have 2 things that look like whiskers above and between their eyes called cirri or something like that. you kinda have to look closely to see them, though.

Got it. Thx CrazyLionfish/fishfanv... just have to pay closer attention. Do you guys think any of this fish will do bad in a BB setup.... I'm thinking they shouldn't.

hm, i don't see why not since it seems most blennies don't go down to the sand bed anyway.

Today was just purchased a lawnmower blenny, and my I add I think it's just so ugly that it's cute....It kinda looks like a beast to me, but yet he's so friendly. He's the first first that was addes besides 2 damsels...Our 3 striped damsel is very aggressive and I thought he would attack him at first, but it and our other very less aggressive damsel fish just take their tails and shack them at him and on him...anyone know what this is about.

Anyways, I love my blenny

get rid of all the damsels or move them to another tank. damsels are the devil.

Matt -

Not all gobies need a sandbed, it's variable depending on the type. I have a BB, and my green clown and masked gobies don't need it ... yet for a watchman or such - I wouldn't have one without substrate.

Anyway ... we're talking about Blennies .. here's my favorite type, the Midas:

Here's the first one I had, more gold colored than my current. R.I.P. little buddy

And here's the one I've got right now:

Great fish. A hole-living [but mostly open water swimming] planktivore blenny.

I love those but they are a little hard to find. Where did you find yours?
The only online place always has them on pre order

I got my first one from a LFS, my current [lower] one from Drs F&S. Would love to find a mated pair, actually ... but have never seen them anywhere [though if you have ... let me know!]

What does it eat in the tank. My goby keeps the sand so white, but wont touch stuff on the rocks.
