What is this?

Seen this near my clam in the morning. Is he shedding his bypassal organ? He looks alright. Will he be ok?

This same thing happened to me a few weeks ago and freaked me out. The clam looked very healthy the whole time so I figured i'd wait and see. It's fine now.

The byssal threads are like our hair or fingernails are. The grow so many and this is the clams way of discarding them.
