Was thinking about Todd this weekend. Maybe he will post once he feels better. I thought he had a laptop from work he could use at the hospital.

Glad to hear Todd's surgery went well. So, Peggy, when is it going to be your turn?

Ok, I just have to vent...WTH is up with my department on campus? Two weekends ago, we had our departmental picnic. I go and I run into a professor that I see all the time. His response when he sees me: "Wow, so you decided to come back from France after all and finish the program." Dude, I came back from France two years ago, and I've been in the hallways every day since then!

The worst was last week during a seminar I was auditing. The prof forgot my name and called me Steve. There's no one in my department named Steve. I wouldn't be concerned, but this guy is my thesis advisor. I've taken four classes with him, two independent studies, and I took my first round of doctoral exams under him. I've known him for four years, and he thinks I'm Steve. This does not bode well for my thesis.

Ok, rant off.

Don't worry about it, William. They're probably just becoming senile.

By the way, how's your wife?

Old timers? That's too funny Les.

He does have a laptop, must just not be up to posting. Now I called too late to get him drug induced, darn! Sounds like a pretty fun guy tho.

Yes, Peggy how's your situation coming along?

Well, the prof that doesn't remember that I came back from France is a dirty perv who has a thing for certain men in the department. Thank God I don't fall into that category. Come to think of it, the other one is a perv as well--he goes after any young thing with breasts. It's rather disgusting and infuriating...I've been talking with him about something serious (i.e. my thesis), when he's cut me off mid-sentence to go flirt with some ditz in the department who thinks his affections are cute. I'm almost at the point that I'm either going to say screw it and quit this program, or I'm going to wax my legs and put on a skirt to get his attention. I've invested way too much time and money for the former, so I guess I need to go shopping.

I don't understand, I had to attend seminar after seminar on sexual harassment, discrimination, etc., but there is so much crap going on in my department alone that I could write a book. Profs banging grad students in their office. So, I guess someone should tell their parents that they're not sending their children to an institution of higher learner, rather to junior high.

Ok, rant off...Gee, can you tell that I'm really POed today?

Ok, just one more. I just want to beoytch-smack all the pseudo-feminists in my department as well. Don't tell me how you want to be taken seriously as a woman and be respected for your mind when you dress like a ho and use your body to get what you want from the faculty. Some people should never leave the kitchen!

My neice had (has) a terrible time with her thesis advisor. It took months of emailing back and forth for him to finally approve her topic. She is an elementary teacher so the subject is 'what is the effects in the classroom of a student whose parent is in Iraq.'
By the time the advisor approved the subject matter her time was up and the university wanted another $1000. I asked her a few months ago how her thesis was going but she yelled at me so I never asked her again.

I am scheduled to see the back specialist Oct. 21. I need to get this done. I am afraid I will eventually go down like Les. (umm, interesting visual ) My Dad is not feeling well and I am here all alone to take care of him. OMG. What a whineass I am.

Thanks for the laugh Peggy, I needed that after my own hissy-fit. I'm sure any further comment from me would be a violation of that U/A agreement.

Dang...how did I fell behind in this thread??? SHEESH!

Uh, we bought an espresso machine today, I had 3 shots of espresso from the time we got it home (about 4pm) and 7pm - it is now 1am and I am STILL WIRED!

Hope all is well with Todd. Peggy, it's ok to whine, I do it all the time! Wish I could be in MI to help you with your pops. I hope your kids are pitching in.

Poor Tanya, once she loses her caffeine buzz, she is gonna crash and burn.

Les, I enjoyed our chat the other night--I've missed them.

Todd, hope all is well.

Peggy, I too wish I was "home" so I could help out. Thanks to these gas prices, I think our meeting each other is on indefinite hold though

Thanks for thinking of me guys. I told my neice about my surgery and she can help out on Christmas vacation. Of course, I have my daughter right here too. I just have to wait to see what the Doc says.
Now for a more pressing problem. I want to get a new camera so bad. I am tinking of a Nikon 7600. I told my Dad that a cool birthday present for me would be not paying rent for the upcoming month so I could afford a camera. He said no. Any ideas how to convince him this is what I absolutely need?

Hey Guys. I am doing okay. Got back to my place yesterday, had my friend drive me back, Mom was getting on my nerves

Things went okay, but they did keep me in over the weekend, wanted to make sure the infection was cleared up. It hurt a bit more than I thought it would, but the morphine button thingy helped with that

I will check back later on, time to lay back down and wait for my nurse to come. Thanks for all the kind words, and Thank you Debi for the phone call, that was really nice.

Hey Todd, I'm glad you're back among us. You know, that morphine button trigger was my best friend. I pushed it every 8 minutes whether I needed it or not--I called it pre-emptive striking. I guess I called my friends up, pressed the little button, my friends would hear a "beep," and I'd say: "that one's for you darling."

Anyways, I hope you're back up and at'em in no time. So, tell us about this nurse who's coming? I had these great fantasies about a totally hot, scantily-clad at-home physical therapist doing my therapy, and boy was I disappointed. "He" had to cancel at the last moment and was replaced by this Godzilla-woman.

Thanks Les, my button was on a 6 min. lock out, seemed like forever.

The nurse... She is the same one I have had before. Really cool and fairly hot. We have always flirted with each other. Even made plans to go out, but something always seemed to come up. And now, I am seeing someone else so nothing will happen this time But at least she is a good nurse, so it works out.

Glad you're well Todd.

Do you think I could have a morphine dispenser put inside of me?

You are so bad. Well either the cookies were terrible, and he's afraid to come on. Or he's just relaxing and taking it easy!
