I just thought of a clever comeback. Is 100-2 not domination? They still let in two goals. And the JV team, as you said, owned, but they let in three!!

That would have been a wonderful comeback had you not said it 24 hours too late.

In 48 hours, I'll be in school.

The weight of the actual tank isn't the significant part. I mean it all adds up, but once you have 200 gallons of water, a ~60 lb tank doesn't make a difference.

Edit: I wouldn't put a 200 gallon tank on the second floor unless I knew that the house is, "rock solid."

sharkboy, the water alone will weigh about 1780 lbs. i would put it on the first floor if possible.

My friend had a 120 gallon tank in his room on the second floor. Then in a room next to the 120 he had a 75 plus about a 50 gallon sump. If you looked at it...it was confined to about a 10 foot space all together.

Just make sure your house is modern and not old.

Yeah. If you think about it, your desk/bed/dresser/you probably weigh a lot. Your floor will hold if about 15-20 people stand in your room. If you're concerned, just remove some stuff from your room. I personally think you'll be fine.

yea, but if you include rocks, sump, etc...the whole setup will weigh over a ton (2000lb)... 15-20 people is probably around a ton, but bed and desk are definitely not.

20 people at around, say, 130 each = 2,600lbs. Plus the bed, desk, etc. I'd think that as long as the weight is evenly distributed, then he'd be fine.

i think it really depends on the reinforcement. some houses are very new and probably have great reinforcement. i dont have a second story, but i know my house is like 60 years old, so i reinforced the 4 foot area my tank sits on with like 8 2X4's just in case. your system would weigh well over twice mine does. also, think about the sump and everything. jordan, your friend's situation is different. in between the tanks, there was the reinforcement of the wall. also, a 120 and a 200 are very different weights. sharkboy, if you try it, make sure you put it on the opposite side of the room as your bed and/or dresser, or near the strongest wall. i personally would think about putting it downstairs.

That is what's different. 20 people is ok because the weight is spread over a large surface area. a 200 gallon tank is concentrated on a small surface area in your room. Definetly make sure you have strong reinforcments and put it "against the grain on your boards" to distribute the weight more evenly.

Technically, the ratio is far more favorable in 100(scored):2(let in) than in 4:2. If you scored 100 at the actual ratio your team had, you would have let in 50 goals. What now?

Their are also other things that you have to factor in. Such as, what happens if you accidentally spill some water out of your tank? Answer: From having personal experience the water doesn't just evaporate into the carpet.

I really don't think that a 200 gallon tank should go on the second story of a house unless the house is built like a tank. I also wouldn't advise assuming that your house is built really well and sturdy just because it is new, some modern houses aren't built very well.
