Mane, how close is it to y0our light? Have you tried putting a piece very close to light? I have a similar thing happening to a monti now...except of developing orange, which it already has, it is turning blue on the body/stronger on the tips....

Potential rainbow? Nice one Chris. Hey how is that pink monti doing? Mine turned orange under Hamilton 14's. I'm changing to megachrome 13k's tonight.

Its about 20" away from 250w de 20k. I havent moved it closer as its HUGE and I have no room =). I have heard that some green polyp guys can develop orange polyps around the edges.

not an encrusting monti but cool anyways...just got it from a LFS here:
pink polyps with green base(which should develop over time as seen on the mother colony).

Here is one I got recently from a LFS (Wild). It was pink under VHOs but I moved it to MH DE 10ks just to see and it turned red/orange. It has encrusted fairly quick.

Here is a close-up:

I was told it is M. spongodie but I don't think it is. The closest match that I found on veron's book is M. nodosa. It has a very unique thing about the polyps. One of the pinules (I think they are called) is white and the rest are clear:
What do you guys think?

Hey fragguy,
I have coined a new name for your monti. The "strawberry" monti. Man, that thing is nice! Looks just like a strawberry, seeds and all!

Max,

I like it!

It will look even more like a strawberry once I get more of the pink back on it.
