Do fish need total darkness?

I have the Lunar Aqua Lights. They are 12 on for the 10k and 10 on for the actinics, and the moonlights are on the rest of the time. Should I have a period of "total" darkness and not even have the moonlights on or does it matter?

I have fish, live rock, and a couple of corals...

TIA

You can leave the moonlights on the whole night.

On TV the other day, they were showing a new aquarium opening in Spain... very very big. In their tanks, they leave some lights on in the shark tanks so that the smaller fish (prey) can find places to hide at night.

Out on the reefs you usually have moonlight. My fish seam to know when its time for bed. At around 11-12 at night even if the lights are on one or two of them usually goes and hides under some rocks to sleep. Mt sebae clown actually gets sand on him from sleeping on the bottom and when he wakes up he needs to clean himself off by swimming around.

They don't need total darkness but they do need darkness, everything needs to be in balance so leaving your MH's off a timer is probably not a good thing in the long run.

My fish also seek out the LR instead of cruising around when it starts getting late.

Fish and Coral both need darkness, some biological processes get imbalanced if there is no day/night cycle.
