Neon Goby nips at my Deresa. Totally ignores Maxima and Crocea. Going to remove the sucker if I can ever catch him.

I was once told that pygmy angels do not bother clams.
Are the angels, specifically the coral bueaty and flame angel pygmy's?

Coral Beauty (Centropyge bispinosa) and Flame Angel (Centropyge ioricula) are both pygmy angels. I had both before in a 75g with two Maximas and they left it alone. I think its hit or miss on an individual fish basis. If you want to take a chance and you do get one that nibbles, consider the difficulty of catching the fish and removing it vs. the cost of the clams it could damage. How badly do you want one?

Pygmy angels are hit or miss. I have a pair of Lemon peels, a coral beauty, an atlantic pygmy, and have only seen the lemons nip at any clams. When they do this they seem to only be getting the mucus and not hurting the flesh.

But some can be distructive. I have several lobopylias in the tank which they will sample the mucus from but not hurt the flesh, however I added a cynarina to the tank and they distroyed it. Killed it in 2 days.

I am wary of my bicolor blenny. I know rock lawnmowers nip sometimes, but I never thought a bicolor would until this week...he looks like hes nipping, but he could be just going for algae near the mantle. I dont see any actual bite marks.

I have caught my Lawnmower Blenny nipping at my Crocea once or twice. If he keeps that up, he will not be making the move to the new tank.

He looks kind off shaken up there Whiskey. Glad he made it out OK

I've had an Imperator Angel, Golden Pygme Angel and a supposedly reef safe male Lyretail Angel nip at clams. The little golden pygme angel was by far the worst of all of them.
