Squilla empusa

Hi. I was just looking for info on S. empusa. They seem like they would make a good aquarium spearer and are found pretty close to me. If I could ever get my tank to support mantises again I think it would be worth setting up a tank for and I could probly collect a few. Unfortunately there isn't alot of useful info on them. Even a search of reefcentral for empusa turns up less than one or 2 page of hits. (using google) I could have sworn there were a few more posts on it but I can't find them. Like a discussion about them being potentially poisonous in some way. Anyways is there anything that would make them unsuitable for the aquarium besides the deep sand bed? It says that temp requirements are a problem but if I did my math right (And I probly didn't) that is 78 degrees farenheit max temp. That is no problem to maintain. Also, aside from water quality issues is there any reason I couldn't house one in a 10 gallon? I have 3 ten gallons hooked up together. Any other interesting info? Thanks.

Dan

By the way Dr. Roy I have the first picture of squilla empusa from Roy's list as My PS3 background (Its the closes I have to a computer right now...) And the mantis looks absolutely stunning in that photo. Everytime I exit my web browser It looks awesome and the black background helps me see my icons.

If you don't want to hunt them down you can try Gulfspecimen.org
. Thats a species they commonly have.
