Exclamation Club election time!

As many of you know, June is the month that our club was founded and so It is also the time for elections.
We will need to elect the following offices:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
*other offices will be appointed by the new leadership*
Be thinking about who you would like to see in these offices. At the June meeting we will have the official nominations. The July meeting will be the elections and the transfer of power.
Please feel free to nominate anyone for these offices here. Likewise, if there are offices that you think need to be created, suggest them and give a nomination.

I nominate:
President= Cathy
Vice President= Robbi
Secretary= Nick
Treasurer= BJ

Teena you are too funny!!!!!!!!!! I will gladly lend you some heels with a handbag to match. Thanks Richard for the nomination but I feel that a secretary should be present at every meeting and with my job and living in Jackson and raising a teenage daughter by myself I cannot commit to this position at this time. Thanks

If the treasurer gets to embessel money for their own tank, you might get some more people interested...

Okay ... despite the questionable comments about the treasurer position, I am offering to serve in that position a little longer if you all want me.

I just took it a few months ago and am in the process of setting up the records in a way that anyone can take and keep them easily going forward. Right now they're still on Excel which I don't think is a good long-term solution, but at least we do have records going back to the beginning of all transactions.

What I would like to do is to put our records into a software program (Quicken, Money or Quickbooks) that would track not only the $ but the member contact information. With that, we could easily send out notices for meetings or club news/alerts via email or even snail mail if needed rather than just relying on RC for our communication. We also could print and email financial reports any time they were needed and/or print or email invoices for dues, group orders, etc.

Right now, since our year is up everyones dues will need to be renewed. This is the perfect time to set all that up as the dues are input to the system and deposited.

If someone has more time than I do, I'd love for help or to have someone else serve as treasurer and do it. I'd be happy to help with the set up. Either that, or I can finish the set up and then turn it over to whoever is elected treasurer. Actually .... that might be the best idea right there.

Then I'll change the name of my position to Grand Empress and rule the world.

Actually ..... the more likely scenario is that I run away and hide.

Barrett ... I'm concerned that there are a lot of members we're not hearing from and we've not seen on the board lately.

Jay?

Cass?

Ramiro?

Dustin?

Andy?

Tim ... are you still a member even if you moved?

I know there's more I'm missing ...

Not everyone gets on RC, but everyone should be included. Also, is the July meeting going to be in an accessible place where we can get good attendance?

I recommend that we send an email to the roster of members so that we get people who may not have been on RC and tell them elections are happening and if they're interested they need to tune in and speak up if they want to volunteer or nominate.

Then, what if we set the election up as a poll so everyone could vote whether or not they're at the meeting in July?

I'm in those nominations in too many places. We need more nominations to make it a reasonable election. I'm honored by the confidence, but we need more involvement.

It's never good for a club when the work and leadership just sit with a small group of people. The more we can do to draw everyone in, the better.

What do you think?

Cathy

p.s. Barrett, why are the nominations in the posts above not included? There's a nomination for Jay and Sanford for president, Steve or Nick for VP etc ...

I was running around trying to hostess at the meeting and missed the discussion on the nominations.

Why didn't we use all the nominations off this thread?

Hope I'm not stirring up stuff you all settled at the meeting and I just didn't hear.

The official nominees are:
President= Cathy Peck, Vicki Moore, Jay Blundon or Sanford Carson
Vice President= Robbi Jouben, Steve Palmer, Nick Moore or Cathy Peck
Secretary - Doris McLemore, Tina Wright or Nick Moore
Treasurer - Cathy Peck, Vicki Moore or BJ
Webmaster - Ryan Burchfiel

We'll work on getting an email out to all members. Any nominees who wish to bow out please let us know.
Vicki is working on securing a place for the July meeting.
I would like to make the election process and ballot/blind process so the votes can be kept confidential. Anyone wishing to submit their vote online please send it to me. Only one person will hold an office, and no one will hold more than one office. Cathy, if you wish to withdraw your nomination in any or all areas please let me know so I can update the roster. We did discuss you holding treasurer for a period of time and turning it over to another person. That being the case, whoever is elected Treasurer will hold the position once Cathy turns it over to them.
