i'll be joining the club soon...
after finding out reinforcing the mooi unit i wanted to use as a stand would not work...it's in the works and will have to be built to spec...once the ball gets rolling on that, the tank will be ordered. the "stand" will look simmilar to this....

Here was my ~135G that I had last year.
The last FTS before I took it down. I never really aquascaped it, knowing I would get a bigger one. I went down to a 135 (from a 340) because of all the work of a large tank. Then I learned that in many ways - rimless tanks take less time for the everyday tasks. So I sold it and went to a 210G. Sorry no updated FTS, but soon!

Damn!!
Nice tanks guys. It's been a year since I bought my first house, and I'm finally able to have a 'normal' sized reef. I definitely prefer the rimless tanks. Especially after the eye candy in this thread. Does anyone have a close-up picture of the joints? Is there just a bead of silicone on the inside edge? Such as a fillet weld as opposed to a CJP groove weld? (for any engineers/welders) Keep the pics coming guys! |

Ewan, I doubt Elos would mind me borrowing this from their sponsor forum
Phish's second pic in this thread has another shot. But its his photo so I'll just provide his thread and not the pic. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...readid=1153445 There are definitely tricks of the trade to keep these together w/o bracing - I would ONLY trust a company who has a good track record. Elos and AGE come to mind. I believe the silicone itself and the application are different than another tanks with add'l bracing. They've been around Europe and Asia for a very long time - so its not really new stuff.

Thanks all!
reiko1078, the boxes are the Sfiligoi ACLS computers/ballasts for my Infinity XR4 light fixture that controls the MH/T5 and moonlights. Some of the features included sunrise/sunset dimmable MH, moonlight control, longitude/latitude, cloudy days, intensity control, etc. Elos prices may start you with a jaw drop but your have to remember it comes with everything you need. Tank, stand, sump, skimmer, ATO, pumps and all necessary plumbing. If you add it all up it's very comparable to buying it piece by piece. If you don't believe me ask the others that own Elos. On top of that the quality and crafsmanship is outstanding! Also Jesse is one of the best in the business! |
